County debut 1993. Test and ODI debut 1998.
Senior tours: England to Sharjah (1997-98), Bangladesh (Wills International Cup 1998), Australia (Carlton and United Series 1999) South Africa and Zimbabwe (ODI Squad 2000) Kenya (ICC Trophy), Pakistan and Sri Lanka (20001).
England 'A' tours: Australia (1996-97) and Kenya and Sri Lanka (1997-98).
Picked up his first five wicket haul in Tests (5-75) in the 2nd Test v Pakistan at Faisalabad in 2000. Finished with 17 wickets in the series - a record for an England bowler in Pakistan.
Played in the 1st Test v Australia at Edgbaston this summer but missed the rest of the season and the Zimbabwe ODI tour due to surgery on an achilles injury.
Made his Test debut in the drawn match against South Africa at Old Trafford in 1998 after impressive performances for the England 'A' team.
Made his ODI debut against Australia at the Oval in 1997.
Was a fast bowler as a youngster before switching to spin.
A useful lower order batsman, he has batted as high as number three for his County in One-Day cricket and made a half century from this position in the 2000 NatWest Trophy Final.
