JAMES FOSTER - ESSEX

County debut 2000. Cap 2001. ODI debut 2001.

Selected for his senior tour to Zimbabwe with the ODI squad this autumn after impressing on the England 'A' tour to the Caribbean last winter.

Has completed two years of a three-year degree in sports science at Durham University and was due to spend this winter studying before he was chosen for England.

Is the first undergraduate to be selected for England since Cambridge Blue Derek Pringle in 1982.

Shares the same educational path as Nasser Hussain - as a pupil of Forest School in Snaresbrook and now Durham University.

Scored 74 against Australia this summer for Essex in the Vodafone Challenge Match at Chelmsford.

played tennis for Great Britain Under 14s.

Supports Wimbledon. F.C.

Represented England Under 19s in 1998 v Pakistan and 1999 v Australia.

Scored a half century on his first class debut for Essex v Glamorgan at Southend in 2000.
