We are set for a mouth-watering battle in Guwahati as the world's best fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah comes up against two of the most exciting young batters in world cricket today in RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

MI elect to bowl against Royals


Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has has won the toss and elected to bowl against Rajasthan Royals in the rain-hit IPL 2026 match in Guwahati.

Hardik is back to lead the team after missing the previous game because of injury.

'The pitch has been under covers and in rain-affected games, you always bowl first,' says Hardik at the toss.

MI have bolstered their pace attack to suit the conditions as Trent Boult comes back into the team along with Hardik.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have retained the same playing XI.

This will be a 11 overs-per-side contest, while the Powerplay will be for 3.2 overs.

The Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians IPL match in Guwahati is all set to go.

The toss will take place at 9.55pm IST with the match scheduled to start at 10.10pm.

The match will be a 11 overs per side, with Powerplay of 3.2 overs.

1 bowler can bowl a maximum of three overs, while the other 4 bowlers can bowl maximum of two overs each.

The Mumbai Indians' players are out in the middle now. The groundstaff have done exceedingly well to get the outfield ready after the heavy spell of rain earlier in the evening.

The covers are being peeled off the pitch now, while the Super Sopper works around the outfield.

The players from both teams have started to warm up on the sidelines. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is taking a lap of the ground while Jasprit Bumrah has also wandered out to the middle.

The rain still continues to lash Guwahati with the square under covers. The groundstaff have all stopped working and are only waiting for the rain to stop, failing which there will be no match today.

Quite a number of fans have stayed back despite there being no chance of the match getting underway.

A lot of fans have come out wearing the MI's blue jersey.

As we stated earlier, the cut-off time for a 5-over match is 10.56pm IST.

The groundstaff are having a chat with one of the umpires with none of them seem to be holding an umbrella.

Local boy Riyan Parag seems keen for play to begin as he keeps peeping out of the players' balcony.

But there is plenty of water on the covers and it could take a long time to get the ground provided the rain stops completely.

The chances of the match getting underway looks completely bleak.
