Welcome to updates from Day 2 of the 4th Test between England and India at Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is unlikely to bat in India's first innings after he was advised six weeks rest for a fractured toe while batting during Day 1 of the fourth Test against England at Manchester on Wednesday.

Pant suffered a blow on his right foot after he missed the reverse sweep off England pacer Chris Woakes on the opening day of the fourth Test.

That will put the onus on overnight batters Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur to put on some quick runs in the morning session.

This set back to India will give England a mental edge for the remainder of the match and the series.

India are likely to bring in Ishan Kishan as the replacement for the injured Pant for the fifth and final Test at The Oval, starting on July 31.
