DC 190-9 (20 Ovs) vs KKR 204-9 | SCORECARD

Facing a daunting equation of 25 runs needed from the final over, stand-in captain Narine entrusted Andre Russell with the ball.

Chameera's desperate single put the in-form Nigam on strike, who immediately responded with a powerful boundary, bringing the equation down to a more manageable 16 needed off just four deliveries.

The next ball saw Russell field one off his own bowling, preventing further damage. Nigam managed another boundary, but with 12 still required off the final two balls, the pressure remained firmly on Delhi. Russell then delivered the decisive blow, his pinpoint accuracy shattering Nigam's stumps as he attempted an ambitious shot.

With the game all but over, Kuldeep Yadav managed a single off the final delivery. The over yielded 10 runs and a crucial wicket, securing a hard-fought 14-run victory for Kolkata Knight Riders, marking their return to winning ways.

Varun returns for his final over. Nigam starts with a single to long on. Then big moment-Varun removes Ashutosh, who skies one to Narine. Gone for 7 off 6. The danger man is out, and with him, DC's hopes take a major hit.

DC now need 45 runs off 16 balls. Can Nigam pull off a miracle?

Starc goes for the slog, but mistimes it badly. Straight up into the night sky. Gurbaz settles under it, calls loud and clear, and takes it comfortably.

Two-in-two for Varun Chakravarthy! He's on a hat-trick.

Chameera walks in to face the hat-trick ball... and defends it, playing it safely to long on for a single.

Nigam, calm under pressure, finishes the over with a mighty six! Clean strike to keep DC in the hunt.

After 18 overs, DC are 167/8. They need 38 runs off 12 balls.

Still possible-but hanging by a thread.

Narine continues, and the pressure mounts on DC. Faf du Plessis, who had been the anchor of the chase, hits one back towards the bowler. Narine reacts quickly, and with a sharp catch, he dismisses Faf. Caught by Rinku Singh! It's a massive blow for DC, as the captain departs for a well-played 62 off 45 balls.

Now, DC are 146-6, needing 59 from 28 balls. The game is slipping away from them.

Impact Player Ashutosh Sharma walks in as Mukesh Kumar goes off. Narine nearly gets him first ball with a beauty-similar to the one that dismissed Stubbs, but just outside off. Ashutosh carefully plays it back to the bowler. Faf and Ashutosh exchange a single each before the over ends. A brilliant over from Narine-just 2 runs and the crucial wicket of Faf.

After 16 overs, DC are 148/6, needing 57 from 24 balls. The pressure is mounting.

Axar walks back for a brilliant 43 off 23 balls, grimacing but having kept DC in the game.

Tristan Stubbs joins Faf du Plessis, making it two South Africans in the middle. He pushes one to cover for no run, then gets off the mark with a single. Faf adds one through midwicket. But Narine isn't done yet - he knocks Stubbs over with a perfect delivery. Stubbs departs for just 1.

After 13 overs, DC are 130 for 3, and now need 75 from 42 balls. Momentum is shifting - can KKR pull it back?

Faf brings up his fifty

image
DC 108-3 (11 Ovs) vs KKR 204-9 | SCORECARD

Sunil Narine continues and keeps it tight as the batters manage only a few singles initially. But Axar Patel breaks the shackles, ending the over with a towering six over deep midwicket. After 10 overs, Delhi Capitals are 97 for 3, needing 108 more from the final 60 balls.

Nitish Rana returns to the attack, and Faf du Plessis brings up a well-crafted half-century off just 31 balls - a crucial knock in this chase. A thick outside edge from Axar races away for four, much to DC's delight. However, there's a moment of concern as Axar is down on his haunches in pain again, but he opts to carry on.

Soon after, a big appeal for a caught behind arises. KKR go upstairs. Gurbaz and Rana are confident Axar has nicked it. The UltraEdge shows no bat, but the ball brushes the back leg. The impact is outside the line, and it's the umpire's call - Axar survives. He collects a single next, and Faf ends the over with a boundary to third man.

11 runs come off the over. After 11 overs, DC are 108 for 3, needing 97 runs from 54 balls. The game is very much in the balance.

The replay confirms it - Rahul is short of his crease! He has to walk back after scoring 7 off 5 balls.

Vaibhav Arora returns to the attack. Karun Nair jabs one towards mid-off but can't find the gap. He follows it up with a crisp boundary. Next ball, there's a loud appeal for LBW! Two sounds - but KKR review it. UltraEdge confirms no bat involved, and shows the ball crashing into off stump. A brilliant call from the on-field umpire. Nair knew it- he was already walking even before the ball-tracking replay confirmed his fate. He departs for 15 off 13 balls.

KL Rahul is the new batter and gets off the mark with a quick single. Faf du Plessis, unshaken by the fall of wickets, continues to play fluently and slams a boundary to keep the scoreboard ticking. He is beaten off the final delivery, but it's still a decent over for Delhi.

9 runs and a wicket came off it - after 5 overs, DC are 48 for 2.

DC chase stiff 205 vs KKR

KKR 204-9 (20 Ovs) vs DC | SCORECARD

What an incredible final over, which produced just 9 runs!

KKR will surely feel they should have been aiming for a target closer to 220-225. It was a bizarre innings from KKR they started at full throttle, but faltered in the middle overs against spin. In the end, they could only manage 36 runs in the last four overs.

Its worth noting that Delhi Capitals have won just one out of three matches at home this season, with that lone victory coming through a nail-biting Super Over. Now, with a target of 205 set by KKR, do DC have what it takes to chase it down?

KKR post competitive 204-9

image
KKR 204-9 (20 Ovs) vs DC | SCORECARD

Chameera continues the attack, and Russell gets a single to start. There are two consecutive wides, and then Powell plays the ball towards long on for another single. A fumble from Karun Nair results in a boundary, followed by a toe-end shot from Russell that goes fine and just wide of short third for another four. Another wide follows, and Russell leaves it. He plays towards cover but gets no runs, and the over ends with a single.

A total of 14 runs come off the over, and after 19 overs, KKR are 195-6.

Starc takes the ball for the final over. Russell's muscles are on full display as he smashes a huge six. The next delivery is a slower, shorter ball, and Russell ducks under it. It's called a wide for height, and Delhi Capitals opt to review it. They lose the review, as the ball is clearly well above Powell's head. Starc then angles one down the leg side, and Powell misses. Porel leaps to his left but can't stop the bye, leading to further confusion. Starc believes the ball brushed Powell's pad and consults du Plessis. DC reviews again, and UltraEdge shows a small spike when the ball is near the pad, leading to the wide being cancelled.

Then, Powell is pinned in front by a ball from Starc, and he's given out LBW. He decides to challenge the decision, but the review shows three reds, and Powell begins his trudge back to the pavilion. He departs for 5 off 5 balls.

Anukul Roy is the new batter, but the drama isn't over yet. Chameera delivers a brilliant piece of fielding, taking an absolute stunner on the boundary line! THE FLYING CHAMEERA HAS PULLED OFF A STUNNING SCREAMER! A truly spectacular effort to keep his team in the game.

And then, Andre Russell run out! Porel was lightning quick to remove the bails. Russell departs for 17 off 9 balls. It's a hat-trick moment, but this time, it's KKR's nightmare!

New batter Varun Chakravarthy takes the strike and ends the over with a single.

21:07

Rinku departs, KKR 6 down

image
KKR 181-6 (18 Ovs) vs DC | SCORECARD

Vipraj Nigam continues, and both Rinku Singh and Andre Russell pick up a single each. Rinku then skies the ball, thinking he's connected well. However, Mitchell Starc makes an excellent catch, running under it and holding on. Rinku misses out on a big shot and admonishes himself as he walks off.

He departs for 36 off 25 balls.

Rovman Powell is the next batter in. A googly on off and middle from Kuldeep Yadav is wristed to the on side. Axar Patel sprints from midwicket, dives, and half-stops the ball, but he immediately winces in pain, likely after slamming his left hand into the surface. Hes off the field straightaway, with Faf du Plessis taking over as captain in his absence.

Theres a huge appeal for an lbw but its turned down. To end the over, Powell strikes a boundary. A total of 6 runs and a wicket come off the over. After 18 overs, KKR are 181-6.

Rinku departs for 44 off 32 balls.

Andre Russell walks in, and Chameera, after a well-bowled over, starts with a wide delivery. Russell watches it go by without a shot, and a dot ball ends the over. Seven runs and a wicket come off the over.

After 17 overs, KKR are 175/5.

KKR struggle for momentum

image
KKR 142-4 (14 Ovs) vs DC | SCORECARD

Kuldeep Yadav continues and keeps things tight. Rinku Singh pushes twice but finds the fielders, managing just a single with a flick through midwicket. A half-chance follows as Du Plessis dives forward at short fine leg but the ball drops just short - and if Du Plessis can't get there, few can. Raghuvanshi defends the remaining deliveries, resulting in a disciplined over from Kuldeep. Just 1 run came off it - after 13 overs, KKR are 137/4.

Axar Patel comes on to bowl his final over. Rinku tries a reverse sweep but only gets a single. Raghuvanshi drives straight to the bowler, then jabs for one more. He follows it up with a single, cutting through midwicket. Then comes the breakthrough-Vipraj traps Narine leg-before! A sharp delivery skids on, catching Narine on the pads. The umpire raises the finger, and Narine has to walk back after a quickfire 27 off 16 balls.

image

Mukesh Kumar comes into the attack and starts with a bouncer that Narine comfortably lets go. He follows it up with a yorker, which Narine drives firmly but straight to cover-no run. Another short one follows, and this time Narine has seen enough. He pulls it with authority through mid-on for a boundary. A wide down the leg side adds to the total. Narine then pushes one towards long-on for a single. Mukesh ends the over with a dot ball. A tidy over-just 6 runs from it. After 4 overs, KKR are 54/1.

Starc begins the fifth over with a sharp bouncer that thuds into Narine's thigh as he tries to nudge it away-he appears to be in a bit of discomfort. He shakes it off and flicks the next delivery towards square leg for a single. Another delivery raps him on the pads, and a leg bye is signaled. Rahane, newly in, wastes no time-he launches a massive six, then follows it up by finding the gap for a well-placed four. Starc nails the yorker to end the over, and Rahane squeezes out a single.

Mukesh Kumar continues, and Rahane welcomes him with back-to-back boundaries'"timing them beautifully to keep the momentum going. He tries to create room and go big again but swings and misses. Another attempted heave also fails to connect, but it's too wide outside off. Starc then puts in a brilliant effort in the deep to save three runs, restricting what looked like a certain boundary. Narine picks up a single next ball, and Mukesh finishes the over with a dot. 11 runs come off the over-two early boundaries followed by some tight bowling.

At the end of the powerplay, KKR are in a strong position at 79/1.

DC win toss, opt to field first vs KKR

image
Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel won the toss and chose to field first, citing dew as a key factor.

"We will field first. It becomes easier to bat in the second innings because of the dew. Were going in with the same XI. The wicket seems slow but not dry looks like a 190-200 kind of pitch. We'll assess conditions early and aim to keep them to a manageable total," Axar said.

KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane, meanwhile, confirmed one change in the playing XI.

"Anukul Roy comes in. Its a bit tricky to read this pitch, but we feel a left-arm spinner could be useful here. We need to win five out of five its that simple. Our focus is on one game at a time, and well take it from there," Rahane added.

KKR's playoff hopes on the line as they face DC

image

Hello and welcome to the coverage of the IPL match between DC and KKR in Delhi.

Delhi Capitals take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium tonight.

While DC have been one of the most consistent sides this season, KKR have struggled to find rhythm. Without key players like Shreyas Iyer, Mitchell Starc, and Phil Salt, KKR's new-look squad has failed to live up to expectations. Their bowling, strong early on, has fizzled out as the tournament progressed.

After RR's 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi lit up the IPL last night, KKR fans will be hoping for something special from their side.

With playoff hopes fading fast, KKR must at least play with purpose. A win for DC could take them to the top of the table.
