Bumrah, Boult turn the tide for MI

GT 125-5 (17 Ovs) vs MI 155-8

The rain has stopped, and there's a buzz around the ground as the umpires inspect the pitch. The covers are being peeled off, and Jasprit Bumrah is warming up -a clear sign that play is about to resume. Both players and the crowd are waiting in eager anticipation. The resumption time has been confirmed- play will restart at 11:20 PM local time.

Bumrah has the ball in hand, and the pressure is on. GT need 49 from 36 balls, while MI are in desperate need of wickets. Bumrah, their best bowler, is back into the attack. Gill plays one towards extra cover but doesn't get any runs. The very next ball, he slams a boundary. He then waits for the next delivery and pushes it towards deep point for a single. Bumrah goes around the wicket to Rutherford, and he also takes a single.

And then, it happens- BOWLED! Bumrah delivers a brilliant ball, and Gill departs for 43 off 46 balls. What a bowler! The crowd erupts, and all of a sudden, the thousands in blue and gold, along with the MI players on the field, believe in the chase!

Shahrukh Khan walks in as the new batter, gets his bat checked, and passes the inspection. A dot ball to end the over. 6 runs and a wicket come off it. After 15 overs, GT are 113 for 3 and need 43 from 30 balls.

Boult returns to bowl his final over. Rutherford picks up a comfortable single first ball. Over the wicket now to Shahrukh, who flicks it towards long-on for another single. Then drama- Boult raps Rutherford on the pads, and the finger goes up! Rutherford reviews immediately. It strikes the front pad before deflecting onto the back leg. Ball Tracking shows three reds- plumb! Rutherford has to go, dismissed for a quickfire 28 off 15 balls. MI are roaring back into this contest!

Boult and Bumrah are bending this game to their- and Mumbai Indians- will. Rahul Tewatia is the new batter and gets off the mark with a single. The pitch seems to have quickened slightly after the rain break. Shahrukh collects another single to end the over.

Just 5 runs and a crucial wicket come from it. After 16 overs, GT are 118 for 4 and need 38 from 24 balls.

Bumrah returns to bowl out, coming around the wicket. GT need 38 off 24 balls. Tewatia gets a single to start the over. Shahrukh then slams a glorious boundary- pure timing and placement.

Then comes chaos: a massive LBW appeal followed by a run-out chance! MI opt not to review. But Bumrah isn't done- he knocks over Shahrukh next ball! No celebration, just a cold stare from Bumrah. Shahrukh tried to slog across the line, missed completely, and the ball ricocheted off his back leg onto the stumps. He departs for 6 off 6, attempting to attack MI's best bowler and paying the price.

Rashid Khan walks in and gets going with a lovely drive, collecting two runs. A dot ball ends the over. Bumrah finishes with a sensational spell-7 runs and a wicket in the over.

After 17 overs, GT are 125 for 5 and need 31 from 18 balls. MI are right back in this!

Rain stops play, GT ahead on DLS

GT 107-2 (14 Ovs) vs MI 155-8 | SCORECARD

Play resumes after the timeout with Chahar back into the attack. Gill starts with a single through midwicket, followed by a crisp boundary from Buttler. A dot ball, then Buttler steers a single into the off side. Gill flicks for another single before ending the over with a well-placed boundary through the gap.

11 runs off the over - after 7 overs, GT are 40 for 1, exactly on the DLS par score now. The game is finely poised - MI will want quick wickets, while GT just need to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Hardik brings himself on, but struggles to find his rhythm. He hits Gill's pads early, but it's a leg bye. Buttler then steps up, slamming a boundary to keep the momentum going. Hardik oversteps, adding a no-ball to his woes, and Gill capitalizes by smacking a huge six over long-off. The over drags on, and Hardik can't finish it cleanly.18 runs off the over - after 8 overs, GT are 58-1, needing 98 off 72 balls. This partnership is now a real threat to MI's chances, and the momentum has shifted heavily in GT's favour.

Karn Sharma comes on and delivers exactly what MI needed - a tight, controlled over with no risks taken by the batters. Just 5 singles from it as Gill and Buttler opt for a cautious approach.

After 9 overs, GT are 63-1, needing 93 off 66 balls. Pressure starting to build subtly - a quiet over or two more could swing momentum back towards MI.

Ashwani Kumar starts off steadily as Bosch's concussion substitute, keeping things tidy. Gill and Buttler exchange singles, and there's a big LBW shout, but the umpire rightly turns it down '" the ball simply wasn't doing enough. Just five runs from the over again.

At the halfway mark, GT are 68/1, needing 88 from 60 balls. MI have clawed back control with two quiet overs in a row - the required rate is starting to climb.

Should MI bring Bumrah back for a quick strike?Karn Sharma continues his spell, and Shubman Gill welcomes him with a boundary. Gill then plays one towards midwicket but doesn't get any runs. He follows that up with a single. Three more runs come off the over, and after 11 overs, Gujarat Titans are 76 for 1, needing 80 runs from 54 balls.

Ashwin Kumar continues from the other end. Jos Buttler gets a single first up. Then comes a dramatic moment- Gill is dropped! The trend of dropped catches that plagued GT seems to have followed them into MI colours, as Tilak Varma puts down a straightforward chance. The very next ball brings more drama: it's angled across Buttler, who backs away and throws his hands at it. There's an under-edge, but the umpire isn't convinced. However, Rickelton goes up in appeal, and MI decide to review. UltraEdge shows a clear spike as the ball passes the bat-a massive breakthrough for MI! Just one ball after the dropped catch, they strike. Buttler departs for 30 off 27 balls, and this could be the turning point MI were hoping for. Rutherford comes in at number 4 as Gujarat Titans' Impact Player, replacing Prasidh Krishna.Rutherford begins cautiously with a defensive shot and then gets off the mark with a single. Gill defends the final delivery of the over. Just 3 runs and a crucial wicket came from it. After 12 overs, GT are 79 for 2.

Will Jacks comes into the attack now. Rutherford plays it safe initially, defending the first three deliveries. Then comes a bit of fortune-short and wide outside off, and he manages to edge it away for a boundary. He follows it up with another boundary, and finishes the over in style with a six! A big over for GT-15 runs come off it. After 13 overs, GT are 94 for 2 and need 62 runs from 42 balls.

GT are currently ahead of the DLS par.

Ashwani Kumar returns for his third over. Gill steps down the track and nudges a single. MI are taking their time setting the field. A short delivery on leg stump follows, and Rutherford drives it to long-on for one. Then, Sherfane Rutherford launches a massive six- clean and powerful! He follows that up with a couple of runs. The rain has started to fall more heavily now. Two more runs come off the last ball, making it 13 from the over. After 14 overs, GT are 107 for 2 and need 49 runs from 36 balls.

GT have regained control and shifted the momentum firmly in their favour during this chase. They are currently 8 runs ahead of the DLS par score.

However, the rain has intensified, and the covers are coming on. This appears to be the heaviest spell of rain so far, and with no accompanying wind to blow it away, conditions don't look promising. A delay now seems likely.

Bumrah's tight spell keeps MI in control on DLS

image
GT 29-1 (6 Ovs) vs MI 155-8 | SCORECARD

Bumrah continues to keep things tight. Gill defends solidly first up, then jabs one toward square leg for a couple. A loud LBW appeal follows, but the umpire isn't interested - and neither is Bumrah after a quick chat. Gill taps to mid-off and plays out a dot to end another tidy over. Just 2 runs from it - after 5 overs, GT are 21 for 1, needing 135 off 90 balls.

Boult's final over of the powerplay had a bit of everything - a towering six from Buttler, a brilliant stop by Jacks at point, and now the rain threat looming large again. The drizzle returns just as GT finish the powerplay at 29 for 1. They now need 127 from 84 balls.

Crucially, the DLS par at this stage is 40 - MI are ahead by 11 runs. The umpires have done well to keep the game going so far, but this could get tricky if the rain gets heavier.

Dust storm hits Wankhede as Bumrah keeps GT quiet

image
GT 19-1 (4 Ovs) vs MI 155-8 | SCORECARD

The dust storm that was swirling around parts of Mumbai has now hit the Wankhede too, with a light drizzle in the backdrop.

Play continues for now - 5 overs needed for a result. Bumrah, with the breeze aiding his in-swingers, begins the third over with a wide. Buttler tucks one down to long leg for a single. Gill then earns a couple but causes a momentary delay as something appears to fly into Bumrah's eye. Gill defends the last few, and it's a tidy over despite the conditions - just 4 off it.

After 3 overs, GT are 13 for 1.

The rain has eased off a bit, and play carries on.

Boult continues from his end. Buttler steers one to deep point for a single, before Gill punches a crisp boundary through the off side. A swing and a miss follows, but Gill recovers to pick up another single. Buttler plays out the final two balls cautiously.

Just 6 runs from the over - after 4 overs, Gujarat Titans are 19 for 1.

21:51

Boult strikes, dismisses Sai Sudharsan

image
GT 9-1 (2 Ovs) vs MI 155-8 | SCORECARD

Boult steams in from the other end and immediately makes an impact. Sai Sudharsan swings and misses first ball, then edges the next - caught behind! The Wankhede erupts as Boult, donning the MI blue once more, removes the in-form left-hander.

A huge breakthrough as Sai walks back for 5 off 5 balls.

Buttler walks in and gets off the mark with a single. Gill then lofts one in the air, but it lands safely, allowing him to collect a couple. He sees off the rest of the over with solid defence.

Just 3 runs and the big wicket of Sudharsan from Boult's first - after 2 overs, GT are 9 for 1.

21:46

GT off a cautious start

GT 6-0 (1 Ovs) vs MI 155-8 | SCORECARD

Mumbai Indians return to the field knowing they'll need a near-flawless bowling effort to defend 155.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan stride out confidently.

While there are reports of rain elsewhere in Mumbai, it's dry at the Wankhede as Chahar takes the new ball. He starts over the wicket to Sudharsan, with a slip in place. The left-hander is beaten first up but responds with a glorious boundary, followed by a single cut to deep backward point. Gill gets off the mark with a gentle push into the off side before defending the final ball.

A steady start - 6 runs from the opening over.

MI struggle to 155/8, can their bowlers defend?

image
MI 155-8 (20 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Mumbai Indians posted a below-par 155 despite a strong start. Gujarat Titans, sloppy in the field with three dropped catches, bounced back hard - reducing MI from 97/2 to 113/6 and choking the late-overs surge.

Will Jacks' maiden IPL fifty was the lone bright spot. Rashid Khan sees some help for spinners, but GT will fancy chasing this down.

MI struggle to 155/8, can their bowlers defend?

image
MI 155-8 (20 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Siraj takes the 19th and starts with a single to Chahar, who nudges it into the off side. Bosch lifts the spirits of the Wankhede crowd with a crisp boundary and adds a single next ball. Two more singles follow to round off the over. A tidy one under the circumstances - 8 runs from it, and MI move to 137/7 after 19.

Final over now, and it's Prasidh Krishna to bowl. Bosch begins in explosive fashion - slams a six with authority! And follows it up with another one! Back-to-back sixes as Bosch goes big. But then, a sharp bumper catches him off guard- Bosch swings and misses and takes a solid blow to the helmet.

The physio is out for a mandatory concussion check. Tense moments as we head into the final few balls.

Bosch is cleared to continue and looks to steal a couple, but it proves costly. Sitting deep in his crease, he tugs one towards deep mid-wicket and pushes for two. It's a desperate dive, but Buttler pulls off a brilliant bit of glovework - gathering a wide throw and flicking it onto the stumps in one smooth motion. Bosch is run out for a fighting 27 off 22 balls, just two balls left in the innings.

Karn Sharma is brought in as the Impact Player, replacing Rohit Sharma, and gets off the mark right away with a single. Chahar finishes the innings with a boundary, piercing the gap perfectly.

Mumbai Indians end with 155/8 - a total that feels just below par, but with their bowling firepower, it's still very much game on at the Wankhede.

Prasidh strikes, MI 7 down

image
MI 129-7 (18 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Prasidh Krishna continues to pile on the pressure. Naman Dhir tries to force the pace but finds the fielder inside the ring. Then, in a desperate attempt to break free, he steps down the track - but the ball rises sharply and cramps him for room. He swings hard but only manages to mishit it straight to Shubman Gill at mid-off. A simple catch, and Gill doesn't miss.

Dhir walks back for 7 off 10 balls, and Mumbai Indians sink deeper. Prasidh strikes at a crucial time, and GT are all over the hosts now.

Deepak Chahar is the new man in, with MI struggling at 125-7.

Rashid returns for his final over and keeps things tight. Bosch gets down on one knee and sweeps to deep backward square for a couple. He then attempts a reverse sweep but misses and is struck on the pad - Rashid goes up, but the umpire remains unmoved. Bosch follows up with a single, before Chahar defends one and then drives down to long on for another single. A dot to finish.

Just 4 runs from the 18th - another excellent over from Rashid. MI crawl to 129/7 with two overs left.

21:04

Coetzee removes Tilak, MI in trouble

MI 123-6 (16 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Prasidh Krishna returns for his second spell and tightens things up immediately. Corbin Bosch plays it cautiously, defending the first three balls. He finally pulls one to deep square leg for a single. Dhir has nothing much to do apart from a tap and a leg bye to end the over. Just 2 runs off it - a brilliant 15th over. MI 116-6.

Coetzee continues with pace and aggression. Naman Dhir finally breaks the shackles with a boundary to start. He follows it with a quick single. Bosch swings and misses once, but then gets inside the line and places it beautifully between deep square and fine leg. Sai Kishore sprints and puts in a desperate dive to save two, but looks to have injured himself in the process and is helped off the field.

Next ball, Bosch flicks to midwicket and sets off, but a mix-up almost results in a run out. Siraj misses a direct hit - and Bosch survives. Seven runs come off the 16th.

Mumbai Indians now 123-6 with four overs to go.

Coetzee removes Tilak, MI in trouble

image
MI 114-6 (14 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Mumbai Indians opt for a strategic time-out  and they need it. With the innings wobbling, this pair must dig in deep to avoid a sub-par total.

Gerald Coetzee returns to the attack. Tilak Varma knocks one down to long on for a single. Naman Dhir defends a couple of deliveries before flaying one to deep third for another single.

Then - breakthrough! Tilak looks to go aerial but doesn't get the timing right. It goes straight to Shubman Gill at mid-off, who takes a sharp catch right in front of his face. Coetzee lets out a roar, and the Wankhede crowd is left stunned as Tilak departs for 7 off 7 balls.

Bosch walks in and gets off the mark with a single, but it's another big over for GT - just 3 runs and a wicket off it.

After 14 overs, MI are in deep trouble.

Naman Dhir walks in at No. 7 and gets off the mark immediately with a single. 6 runs and a wicket came off it. Another tidy over from Kishore, who finishes with a key breakthrough.

Relief for GT as Rashid removes Jacks

image
MI 106-4 (12 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Rashid sends in a googly and goes up in an appeal- but surely the impact was well outside off?

The umpires go upstairs anyway. There's also a quick check for potential encroachment by Buttler - perhaps his gloves were in front of the stumps? But nothing doing there. Ball-tracking confirms what most suspected: impact clearly outside off. Gujarat lose their final review - they're out of DRS now.

Next ball, Jacks swings and misses. He gets down on one knee for the sweep but finds the fielder at short fine leg - no run. Looking to break free, Jacks finally tries to go big but mistimes it, sending it straight to Sai Sudharsan on the boundary. A crucial breakthrough for GT, and Rashid finally gets his reward!

Jacks departs after a well-made 53 off 35 balls.

Hardik is the new batter, he is off the mark with a single. After 12 overs MI are 106-4.
20:34

SKY departs but Jacks brings up his 50

image
MI 99-3 (11 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

SKY tries to go inside-out but mistimes it completely - spoons it straight to Shahrukh Khan at long-off, who takes a safe catch. A big breakthrough for Gujarat as SKY departs for 35 off 24.

Tilak Varma is the new man in and gets off the mark immediately with a single. Jacks rotates strike again. 10 runs and a crucial wicket from the over - after 11 overs, MI are 99/3.
20:27

SKY grabs Orange Cap amidst close shaves

image
MI 89-2 (10 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Sai Kishore continues. Jacks steps forward and pushes it to long-on for a single. SKY, dealing mostly in boundaries tonight, punches another one to reclaim the Orange Cap. Jacks gets a leading edge trying to work it leg-side but it lands safely - another single. Eight runs off the over - after 9, MI are 84/2.

Rashid returns. Starts with a googly outside off, SKY taps it into the off-side for one. Jacks is struck on the front pad by another googly - huge appeal! Looked very close but the umpire says not out. GT go upstairs. It's umpire's call on impact - Jacks survives! He responds with a straight drive for two, then rotates strike with a single.

SKY goes for the slog sweep but misses and is struck near the waist. Another loud appeal and a late review by GT. But ball-tracking shows it's missing the stumps - review lost.

Just five runs from the over. At the halfway mark, MI are 89/2.
20:14

Dropped chances continue to haunt GT

image
MI 76-2 (8 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Sai Kishore, who earlier dropped SKY, returns with a slip in place '" a chance at redemption. Jacks shoulders arms to the first, then nudges the next to deep midwicket for a single. SKY follows with a sweep to cover for one more. Jacks handles a slower one and works it to long-on for another single. Then comes the statement shot - a towering six to close the over!

Solid recovery for MI. After 7 overs, they're 66/2.

Rashid Khan into the attack with a slip in place. SKY gets down on one knee and sweeps for a single. He goes for the sweep again - Sudharsan dives brilliantly at deep backward square to save a couple. Another sweep, this time just past Gill, fetches a single. Jacks rocks back and nudges it to long-on for one. SKY finishes the over in style with a boundary.

10 runs from it - after 8 overs, MI are 76/2.
20:03

SKY, Jacks make GT pay for costly drops

image
MI 56-2 (6 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Prasidh Krishna into the attack now, but Suryakumar Yadav greets him with back-to-back boundaries - classic SKY flair. He then taps one to mid-off for a single. Jacks rotates strike as well. But drama follows - SKY gets a life on 10, dropped by Sai Kishore. And he makes GT pay immediately, finishing the over with another boundary.

Big over - 16 off it. MI move to 43/2 after 5.

Arshad continues, and Jacks is in no mood to slow down. He opens with a boundary, then swings and misses, but cashes in on a full toss with two more consecutive boundaries. And now another drop! This time it's Jacks who gets a life - Siraj the culprit, spilling a sitter at short third. That's the third drop in the powerplay!

A dot to finish, but damage done - 13 runs off the over. MI finish the powerplay at 56/2.

He taps the next ball towards point, where Shahrukh Khan makes a sharp diving stop to save runs. Jacks settles for a single, and then Rohit finally finds the timing he's been searching for, carving a boundary through the off side.

A dot to finish, but a productive over - 15 runs off it. MI are 25 for 1 after 3 overs.

Arshad continues. Jacks punches one to cover for no run, then rotates strike with a single. But there's a twist - Rohit falls! A mistimed stroke lands straight into the hands of Prasidh Krishna at mid-off. The Wankhede crowd is stunned into silence.

Rohit walks back for 7 off 8 balls, and Gujarat have struck twice in the powerplay.

SKY is the new batter, he defends two and ends the over with a single.
19:43

Siraj strikes early! Removes Rickelton

MI 10-1 (2 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Arshad Khan takes the ball from the other end. Rohit leaves the first delivery alone, then nudges one to deep square leg for a single. Jacks rotates strike with a single too. Rohit then tries something cheeky-shuffles across, gets down on one knee, and laps it high into the air. With no short fine leg, Buttler gives chase, and Rohit picks up a couple. A big LBW appeal follows, but the umpire remains unmoved despite Arshad's loud plea.

Just 4 runs from the over - after 2 overs, MI are 10 for 1.
19:39

Siraj strikes early! Removes Rickelton

image
MI 6-1 (1 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton stride out to a thunderous reception at the Wankhede, the crowd buzzing with anticipation.

Rickelton takes strike, facing up to Mohammed Siraj, who starts with a full, swinging delivery. Rickelton times it nicely, flicking it through mid-wicket for a couple. But just a few balls later-gone! Caught by Sai Sudharsan. Siraj draws first blood, sending Rickelton back early and silencing the crowd momentarily.

Will Jacks walks in early after Rickeltons dismissal and gets going cautiously, pushing one to mid-on for no run. Then- drama! A sharp chance goes begging. Jacks hammers one straight to Sudharsan at short extra cover, but it bursts through his hands - a chance missed, and a big one at that. He makes GT pay immediately, slamming the next ball to the boundary. A dot ball closes out the over. Eventful start: 6 runs and a wicket off the first.

GT win toss, opt to field vs MI

image
Gujarat Titans have won the toss and elected to bowl first.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya said, 'We don't mind batting first. There's a strong breeze, so bowling second is fine too. In the IPL, any player can flip a game - so it's all about executing plans and staying ruthless for 20 overs. Discipline, focus, and humility are key. No changes to our XI.'

GT skipper Shubman Gill said, 'We're bowling first. The pitch won't change much. It's about putting up a solid performance as a team. Arshad replaces Sundar. Rabada is back in the squad but needs time to regain rhythm. We're lucky to have flexibility with Kishore and 6-7 solid bowling options.'

MI and GT lock horns in playoff decider

image

With the playoff race tightening and only 15 league games left, Tuesday's blockbuster clash between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans at Wankhede is a high-stakes showdown with massive implications.

Mumbai Indians, third on the table with 14 points from 11 matches and boasting the league's best net run rate (1.274), need just two more wins from their remaining three games to seal a playoff berth. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans, currently fourth with the same points from 10 matches, have four games left - two of them at their Ahmedabad fortress, where they've won 4 out of 5.

GT's in-form top order vs MI's red-hot bowling attack.

Shubman Gill (465 runs), Jos Buttler (470), and B Sai Sudharsan (504) have powered Titans' charge with consistent dominance at the top. But they'll face their stiffest test yet against a lethal MI attack spearheaded by Trent Boult (16 wickets), Hardik Pandya (13), Jasprit Bumrah (11) and Deepak Chahar (9).

In MI's ongoing six-match winning streak, not a single opponent has breached the 200-run mark - home or away. GT's formula so far has revolved around big totals batting first, but their chasing record is equally dangerous: three chases, three big wins. However, their middle order (outside of Sherfane Rutherford's 201 runs) has barely been tested - something MI's bowlers will look to exploit by striking early.

Ironically, it's Hardik Pandya, the man who led GT to a title in their debut season, now engineering Mumbai's resurgence as captain. With 157 runs and 13 wickets, Pandya has been the glue in MI's revival after a rocky start, including a loss to GT in Ahmedabad.

MI's batting is also peaking at the right time. Rohit Sharma (293) is anchoring with intent, Suryakumar Yadav (475) is in ominous touch, and Ryan Rickelton (334) has emerged as a reliable presence at the top. Will Jacks is warming up nicely as an all-rounder, while Tilak Varma (239) and Naman Dhir (155) bring depth to the middle and lower order.

GT's bowling unit isn't to be underestimated either. Despite the uncertainty around Kagiso Rabada's availability due to a suspension for recreational drug use, their Indian core has stepped up. Prasidh Krishna leads the Purple Cap race with 19 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj (14) and R Sai Kishore (12) have kept the Titans competitive.

With star power on both sides, a playoff spot on the line, and momentum swinging wildly - expect fireworks at Wankhede.
