Mominul has looked to be positive against the spinners. He sweeps Ashwin, smashing it powerfully through square leg for a four.

The next ball is down the leg side as Mominul looks to pull but the ball goes fine off the inside half for another boundary.

The left-hander sweeps the third ball but can't get it past short fine leg. He plays right back to the length ball which skids straight on and strikes him on the pads.

India appeal but the ball is clearly going down as the leg before shout is turned down and Bangladesh manage to pick two leg byes.

Mominul gets on top of the sweep shot but straight to the fielder at short fine leg on the bounce.

Stat Alert: The wicket of Shakib was Ashwin's 524th in Test cricket. Interestingly, his wicket count includes 262 right-handers and 262 left-handers!!!

Jadeja again bowls a quick over, conceding just a single to Mehidy as Mominul this time blocks four in a row.

Short from Ashwin as Mehidy attempts a couple of cut shots but can't find the gap.

Ashwin gets the ball to drift away as right-hander plays for the turn but is beaten on the outside edge.

Jadeja continues as India go on the attack, hoping to finish off the Bangladesh innings quickly.

Mominul blocks the first few balls before he sweeps the fourth ball for a single.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz looks to punch Jadeja through the off-side as the ball goes off bottom edge past the wicketkeeper for a four.

The spinners getting turn and bounce as Bangladesh's batters finding things difficult.

Mominul misses the sweep as Ashwin gets some extra bounce and clips through square leg for a single.

Ashwin from round the wicket gets the ball to turn sharply to beat right-hander Mehidy, who plays inside the line.

Rishabh Pant whips off the bails as the stumping appeal is referred upstairs but Mehidy's feet are in the crease before he gets well forward to keep out the last ball.

The over rate has taken a sharp jump with spinners from both ends. Jadeja rushes through his seventh over, as Mominul picks a single and Mehidy watchfully keeps out the remaining five deliveries.

Siraj in midst of a good spell. The first ball is full and moves away to beat left-hander Shakib, who looks to drive through the off-side.

Another overpitched delivery but this time Shakib drives it off the middle through the covers for a four.

Shakib is hurried into the pull shot as it hits high on the bat and rolls towards the leg side before he keeps out the last ball.

Mominul looking solid in defence as he bats watchfully against Jadeja, keeping out the first three balls before sweeping the fourth ball for a single.

Spin from both ends as Ravichandran Ashwin comes into the attack from other end.

Shakib uses his feet to loft the spinner inside out over the covers for a four.

But Ashwin gets revenge off the next ball. Shakib down the track but this time he skies high and Siraj back pedals to take another stunning catch.

Siraj back pedals at mid-off before putting in the dive to take another memorable one-handed catch.

Mominul lap sweeps Jadeja fine for a single and Shakib Al Hasan uses his feet to defend. 

The left-hander again comes down the track to block before he plays from the crease and pushes the last ball on the leg side.

India with the short ball tactics to Mominul, who ducks under the first ball and avoids the next which sails high over the left-hander.

Interestingly, India have a fielder fine at thirdman for the uppercut as Siraj makes his intent clear to bowl short.

The fourth ball, which is again halfway down, doesn't rise much as Mominul comfortably pulls it along the ground behind square for a four.

Another short ball which Mominul pulls along the ground as Shubman Gill fails to stop at square leg and Rahul running to his right at fine leg can't get to the ball for another four.

The last ball is again short as Mominul pulls it to the fielder at fine leg for a single.

Jadeja continues from the other end. Mominul keeps out the first two balls before he takes a single as he sweeps the spinner to fine leg for a single.

Shakib gets a single to get off the mark as Rahul again fumbles at midwicket to concede the run.

Spin introduced for the first time on Day 4 as Ravindra Jadeja comes into the attack for the first time in the Test match.

Mominul defends the first ball before he misses the sweep next ball. The left-hander sweeps the fifth ball fine on the leg side for a four.

He slog sweeps the last ball over midwicket for another boundary.

Siraj continues as Litton blocks the first ball on the off-side and leaves the next and the same next two balls.

The last ball comes in sharply as Litton is struck on the pads but the leg before shout is turned down.

Jadeja from the other end. Mominul picks a single off the first ball and Litton inside edges the fifth ball for one run on the leg side and the former blocks the last ball.

At the first drinks break, Bangladesh are 148/4 in 49 overs, with Mominul on 62 and Litton on 13.

They have scored 41 from 14 overs while losing a wicket in the first hour on Day 4.

This has been slow progress by Bangladesh, who want to bat as long as possible. They want to ensure that they don't give India any chance of making a match out of this. But Litton throw it away with a horror shot.

Siraj tries the short ball at Litton, who leaves it alone before he is beaten by a full delivery which moves away.

Litton comes down the track to hit Siraj over the top but fails to get enough elevation and Rohit takes a stunning one-handed catch at mid-on.

That ball looked to have cleared Rohit at mid-off, but he times his leap to perfection and stuck his right hand out to pick the ball out of mid-air for a sensational catch.

Litton walks back for 13 as Bangladesh slip to 148/5 in 50 overs.

Mohammed Siraj into the attack for the first time on Day 4 as he replaces Akash Deep.

He strikes first ball as Mominul is given out caught at short leg as he tries to clip the back of length ball.

He immediately takes the review. There is nothing on the UltraEdge when the ball passes the bat as the decision is overturned.

The next ball is short as Mominul pulls the second ball behind square on the leg side for a boundary to bring up his fifty from 110 balls.

Mominul cuts the short wide delivery as Jadeja makes a diving stop to save some runs and keeps it down to one and Litton clips the last ball to the fielder at square leg.

Akash Deep continues as Mominul leaves and taps the next into the off-side.

He then misses out on the pull shot before he pulls the next towards square leg for three runs.

Akash Deep oversteps to concede a no-ball before Litton keeps out a sharp rising delivery from the pacer and he blocks the last ball.

Akash Deep bowls the first loose delivery of the day. The pacer bowls short and wide as Mominul cuts it past point for a boundary for his first runs of the day.

The third ball goes off the outside half but well short of the fielder in the slips and misses the clip off the fourth ball.

The left-hander watchfully keeps out the last two balls to end the over.

Bumrah also bowls a freebie. The wide half-volley is drilled through the covers for a boundary by Litton to get off the mark.

Two balls later, he makes most of some width as he drives the fast bowler in the gap between cover and point for another boundary.

Another loose ball from Bumrah as he flicks the overpitched delivery through square leg for the third four of the over.

The last ball stays a bit low as Litton adjusts well to keep it out.

Bumrah strikes the early blow on Day as he bowls Mushfiqur Rahim for 11.

Mushfiqur had inside edged the first ball as he plays from the crease which narrowly missed the stumps and went fine on the leg side for a four.

The next ball again comes in sharply and this time Mushfiqur offers no shot as it goes on to strike the stumps.

An error of judgement from the senior Bangladesh batter makes his way back for 11.

New batter Litton Das leaves the ball on length as Bumrah again gets it to jag in a long way as it bounces over the stumps.

The next ball is left alone by Litton before he blocks the last ball.

Bumrah starts his new over with a full delivery as Mushfiqur blocks it on the off-side and leaves the next.

The pressure starting to build. Mushfiqur looks to break free as he attempts to drive the full delivery outside the off-stump, playing away from his body, but is beaten on the outside edge.

He leaves the last two balls after realizing his mistake off the fourth ball when he chased a wide one.

India keeping things tight with just a single run coming from the first four overs.

He defends the next on the leg side followed by a leave and does the same next ball.

Bumrah tempts him with the full outswinger as Mominul beaten again trying to drive it through the off-side and he promptly ignores the last ball.

Tidy start from India with two maiden overs in a row.

Akash Deep from the other end. Mushfiqur blocks the first ball towards gully where the fielder does well to stop it and he offers no shot to the next ball.

Akash brings the third ball in as Mushfiqur keeps it out. India bring in another fielder at the second gully and the Bangladesh right-hander avoids the fourth ball.

Mushfiqur inside edges the fifth ball looking to push forward for a single -- the first run for Bangladesh on Day 4 and Mominul leaves the last ball.

The first ball is pitched up as Mushfiqur defends it on the off-side.

The next ball is again full and shapes away as Mushfiqur is drawn forward as he tries to defend but is beaten on the outside edge.

The third ball swings into the right-hander, who blocks it on the leg side.

A beauty from Akash Deep, getting some extra bounce and away movement off the back of length delivery, as Mushfiqur pokes and is beaten again.

09:21   India eye early wickets on Day 4

India's players are going through their warm-ups. They would be keen to strike early and take control of the match with a few wickets in the morning session.

Bangladesh will need a couple of good partnerships to thwart India's hopes of pushing for victory.

Bangladesh were 107/3 in 35 overs when play was called off on Day 1 because of rain.

Pacer Akash Deep claimed two wickets, dismissing both openers Zakir Hasan (0) and Shadman Islam for 24. 

Ravichandran Ashwin got the wicket of Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto for 31.

Mominul Haque looked good on 40 from 81 balls as he gained in confidence after a shaky start, while the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim is on six.
09:13   What India need to do to qualify for WTC Final

Despite nearly three days lost to rain, India will be desperate to push for a victory in the Kanpur Test and boost their chances to qualify for the World Test Championship 2025 final next year.

If the Kanpur Test ends in a draw, India need to win five and draw one of their remaining eight Tests to qualify for the WTC 2025 final.

After the Bangladesh series, India will take on New Zealand in a three-Test series at home next month followed by a five-Test series in Australia later in the year.
