It continues to pour down in Bangalore and the umpires have been left with no option but to call off the match.

"The #CSKvsLIO match at Bengaluru has been called off due to heavy, persistent rain," CLT20 announce on Twitter.

Chennai stay second in Group A with six points from three games, while Lions are fourth with two points from two games.

The rain has got heavier in Bangalore and the chances of getting a match underway seems to be pretty bleak at the moment.

"It's bucketing down in Bengaluru. Puddles on the field, heavy thunder and lightning," CLT20 says on Twitter.

The start of the Champions League T20 match between Chennai Super Kings and Lahore Lions in Bangalore on Thursday was delayed because of rain.

The M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore is under cover at the moment and the umpires will inspect the conditions after the rain stops to decide on when play would start.

"The drizzle in Bengaluru is intermittent. Covers going on and off continuously. Teams are warming up, no word on the toss," CLT20 organisers said on Twitter.

"Right. The rain has gotten heavier, forcing the players off the field. This is getting frustrating," they added.
