Buttler–Gill power GT in chase

GT 64-1 (7 Ovs) vs LSG 164-8 | SCORECARD

George Linde is introduced into the attack for the first time in the IPL, and Jos Buttler welcomes him with a cracking boundary.

Buttler follows it up with a quick single to keep the strike moving. Shubman Gill then prods forward, getting one off the inside half into the leg side for a sharp run.

Buttler works another delivery to deep midwicket for a single before Gill steps up again, making room and smashing a confident boundary.

A single to finish the over wraps it up.

12 runs come off it, and after 7 overs GT are 64/1, needing 101 from 78 balls.

Rathi strikes 1st ball, Sai falls for 15

image
GT 52-1 (6 Ovs) vs LSG 164-8 | SCORECARD

Digvesh Singh Rathi comes into the attack over the wicket and strikes immediately!

B Sai Sudharsan goes after the very first ball but doesn't get it right, and it flies straight to Avesh Khan, who takes a safe catch.

It's a dream start for Rathi, and he celebrates by signing on the ground after picking up the wicket. Sai Sudharsan departs for 15 off 14 balls.

Jos Buttler walks in as the new batter and starts quietly, punching one off the back foot straight to cover for no run.

He then works one to extra cover and sets off for a quick single. Shubman Gill follows with a clip towards midwicket, and a misfield allows another run to come through.

Buttler soon finds his rhythm, smashing a crisp boundary to lift the tempo. A single to finish the over keeps the scoreboard ticking.

Seven runs and a wicket come off it. After 6 overs, GT are 52/1, needing 113 from 84 balls.

17:57

GT smash 20 off Shami over

GT 45-0 (5 Ovs) vs LSG 164-8 | SCORECARD

Mohammed Shami is back into the attack, and it's Shubman Gill who takes control early in the over. He picks one up neatly to the left of George Linde at deep backward square, and Linde does well to cut it off with a diving effort, saving a couple of runs.

Gill then finds the fielder at point for no run, but soon changes gears. He shuffles across and helps one fine for a classy boundary, showing great touch and timing.

And then he explodes--back-to-back boundaries, including a superbly struck six to finish the over in style.

A massive over for GT: 20 runs from it. After 5 overs, they are 45/0, needing 120 from 90 balls.
17:53

Gill–Sudharsan stay steady

GT 25-0 (4 Ovs) vs LSG 164-8 | SCORECARD

Mohammed Shami continues his spell, and Shubman Gill starts cautiously, pushing one to mid-on for no run.

Gill then looks for a quick single to backward point, but is sent back by B Sai Sudharsan -- a smart call to avoid risk. Gill then lifts one aerially over point for a single.

Sai plays out a few tight deliveries, defending solidly as Shami keeps things disciplined.

There’s concern for Shami as he signals to the physio after a delivery, looking a bit uncomfortable. He seems to be struggling slightly, possibly a groin or hamstring issue, though he continues for now.

Sai finishes the over with a single. Just 2 runs come off it.

Prince Yadav continues his spell, and B Sai Sudharsan starts with a well-timed drive to the right of mid-off, where Aiden Markram dives brilliantly to cut it off. They get a single.

Shubman Gill then pushes one straight to mid-off, unable to find the gap. A tense moment follows when Gill drills a full delivery straight back at the bowler--Prince Yadav, caught in his follow-through, tries to take it but the ball crashes into his left hand and pops up. The physio is quickly out, though he looks set to continue after some treatment and ice.

Gill then nudges one to cover for no run, before rotating strike with a single. Sai finishes the over in style, timing a beautiful boundary.

6 runs come off the over. After 4 overs, GT are 25/0, needing 140 from 96 balls.

Gujarat off to a good start

image
GT 17-0 (2 Ovs) vs LSG 164-8 | SCORECARD

Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan open the innings for the chase, with Mohammed Shami steaming in with the new ball.

Shami starts on a good length, and Sudharsan is watchful early on, working one to midwicket without taking any risks.

But he soon finds his touch--timing one sweetly through the off side for a crisp boundary. Shami tries to pull things back with a short and wide delivery, but Sudharsan can only find the fielder at cover point.

A couple of tight dot balls follow as Shami builds the pressure again, but Sudharsan finishes the over on a high, lacing a lovely boundary.

A steady and confident start for GT--8 runs off the first over.

Prince Yadav comes into the attack from the other end, and Shubman Gill starts by chipping one uppishly but safely, picking up two runs.

Gill then steps down the track and flat-bats a drive straight to mid-off for a single. B Sai Sudharsan responds with a neat angled-bat stroke, guiding the ball behind square on the off side for another run.

Gill finds the fence with a well-timed shot for four and follows it up with a quick single to rotate strike.

A dot ball finishes the over.

9 runs come off it, and after 2 overs GT are 17/0.

Prasidh stars, LSG set 165 target for GT

LSG 164-8 (20 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

LSG finished strongly to reach a competitive 164/8.

However, they'll wonder if it's enough after a stop-start innings. The top order got starts but none of Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, or Nicholas Pooran could convert, all falling while playing attacking shots.

The lower order ensured a strong finish, taking them past 150.

The pick of the bowlers was Prasidh Krishna, who claimed four wickets and led the attack brilliantly. GT dropped a few chances and looked a bit sloppy in the field but they'll still back themselves to chase 165 in good conditions.

17:18

Final over fireworks lift LSG to 164

LSG 164-8 (20 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Ashok Sharma has the ball for the final over, and Mohammed Shami goes after him immediately--smashing it for a massive six as the stadium erupts. Rashid Khan gets to it at deep point but can't hold on.

George Linde then finds the boundary again with a powerful stroke, but soon after, he holes out--this time safely pouched by Shahrukh Khan. Linde departs for 16 off 10 balls.

Avesh Khan walks in and wastes no time, getting off the mark with a boundary. The over continues to go LSG's way with 15 already on the board when a wide is called. There's a brief review request from Shubman Gill, but the decision stands as a wide.

Avesh picks up another single to close the innings.

18 runs and a wicket come from the final over. After 20 overs, LSG finish on 164/8.
17:08

Prasidh picks four as Mukul departs

image
LSG 146-7 (19 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Kagiso Rabada is back into the attack, and Mukul Choudhary responds in style, smashing him for a huge six. He then keeps the pressure on with a couple more runs and a single, finding gaps smartly.

There's a mix-up in the field too, as a miscued shot drops safely in the deep--Washington Sundar even loses sight of it in the air, but Rabada is visibly frustrated as the runs keep coming.

It's an 11-run over, and after 18 overs LSG are 131/6.

Prasidh Krishna comes on for his final over and he strikes again!

A slower short ball does the trick as Mukul goes for the pull but only manages a top edge. Jos Buttler settles under it and takes a clean catch. Mukul departs for 18 off 14 balls, and Prasidh has his fourth wicket.

Mohammed Shami walks in next and immediately gets off the mark with a boundary, followed by a quick single to rotate strike.

Linde gets a bit of fortune as he works one off the pads -- an inside edge on the pull runs fine past the keeper and races away for four.

He then continues to find the boundary again, this time getting enough on a top edge over short fine leg as he looks to take on the short ball outside off. It’s not convincing, but it’s effective.

Another four follows, this time to third man, as Linde keeps the scoreboard moving and denies Prasidh Krishna a five-wicket haul.

A strong finish to the over for LSG --15 runs from it. After 19 overs, they are 146/7.
16:59

Samad departs as GT tight grip

image
LSG 120-6 (17 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Ashok Sharma is back into the attack, and he starts with a hostile short ball that catches Mukul Choudhary by surprise.

Mukul is struck on the helmet and the physio immediately rushes out for a check-up. The ball takes a faint deflection and runs away to third man for a single, legbye called.

The pressure continues to build and Abdul Samad eventually succumbs--he goes for the big shot but only manages to find Glenn Phillips at deep mid-wicket. Samad departs for 18 off 22 balls.

George Linde comes in as LSG’s Impact Player, while Mohammed Siraj also leaves the attack for Gujarat Titans, with Shahrukh Khan coming on as their Impact Player.

Linde starts cautiously, swinging and missing at his first delivery but managing to get off the mark with a single soon after. Mukul Choudhary then pushes one towards point for another run.

There’s a big appeal from Ashok Sharma as he strikes Linde on the pads, but the umpire isn’t convinced and GT choose not to review.

Just 3 runs and a wicket come off the over. After 17 overs, LSG are 120/6.
16:48

Prasidh strikes again as Pooran falls

LSG 117-5 (16 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Mohammed Siraj comes back to bowl out his spell. There's early drama as a run-out chance goes begging--Mukul Choudhary is nowhere in the frame, and Ashok Sharma has all three stumps to aim at at the striker's end, but he misses the throw.

Mukul regroups well, blocking the next delivery before cracking a boundary with confidence. He then rotates strike with a single.

Abdul Samad and Mukul continue to keep things moving, exchanging singles to finish the over.

Seven runs come off it, and after 16 overs LSG are 117/5.

A superb spell from Siraj--4 overs, just 19 runs, and the key wicket of Rishabh Pant.
16:45

rasidh strikes again as Pooran falls

image
LSG 110-5 (15 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Prasidh Krishna continues his brilliant spell, and once again troubles Nicholas Pooran early on, beating him as he tries to swivel and work it on the leg side.

And then the breakthrough comes. Prasidh hits the right length, Pooran goes after it but only succeeds in finding Shubman Gill, who takes a safe catch. It's Prasidh's third wicket of the innings, and he's been outstanding. Pooran departs for 19 off 21 balls.

Mukul Choudhary, the hero from the previous match, walks in next and is greeted with a sharp short ball--but he does well to sway out of the way.

He gets off strike with a single, while Abdul Samad is kept quiet with a firm push straight to point.

Just 1 run and a wicket from the over. After 15 overs, LSG are 110/5.

Another excellent over from Prasidh Krishna, who is tearing through the batting lineup.
16:39

Rabada-Rashid spell goes for runs

LSG 109-4 (14 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Kagiso Rabada comes back into the attack, and Nicholas Pooran begins cautiously, solid in defence before rotating strike with a quick single.

Then LSG finally find some much-needed momentum--after a quiet stretch, they break free with a boundary. And they back it up immediately with another. There's a loud LBW appeal in between, but the umpire is unmoved. Abdul Samad looks a bit unsettled as Rabada digs it in short, the ball climbing awkwardly and coming close to bat and glove. Shubman Gill is confident enough to take the review, but UltraEdge shows no contact.

Two dots close the over, but LSG collect 9 from it. After 13 overs, they are 96/4.

Rashid Khan continues, and Pooran shifts gears instantly--back-to-back sixes that change the mood of the innings. He then plays a composed block before lofting one safely to long-off for a single.

Samad then tries to push the tempo, punching a googly back towards Rashid, who dives full stretch to his right but can't hold on.

A strong over for LSG--13 runs from it. After 14 overs, they are 109/4, with Rashid finishing his spell without a wicket today.
16:31

Rashid keeps it tight

LSG 87-4 (12 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Ashok Sharma comes back into the attack, and Abdul Samad starts carefully, dead-batting the first ball for no run.

He then goes for a flick but misses, and the ball brushes the pads before running away for a leg bye. Nicholas Pooran is also beaten on one delivery before calmly ducking under a sharp bouncer to see out the over safely.

It's another disciplined effort from the bowling side--just 3 runs from the over. After 11 overs, LSG are 83/4.

At the other end, Rashid Khan keeps things tight again. Abdul Samad and Pooran rotate strike with singles, keeping the scoreboard moving without taking risks. A couple more singles follow to close out the over.

After 12 overs, LSG are 87/4.
16:21

Prasidh strikes again, LSG 4 down

image
LSG 80-4 (10 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Prasidh Krishna continues his spell, and Ayush Badoni starts the over by defending one straight back to the bowler--almost a tricky moment for Glenn Phillips in the field.

Prasidh then digs it in short on off stump. Badoni goes for the pull but can't time it, getting no real power behind the shot. Phillips judges it well in the deep, though he briefly loses sight of the ball in the sun despite his sunglasses--but still manages to take a safe catch just inside the boundary.

Badoni departs for 9 off 11 balls.

Abdul Samad walks in next and gets off the mark with a couple of runs. At the other end, Nicholas Pooran stays compact, defending solidly as Prasidh keeps things tight.

A dot ball finishes the over. Just 3 runs and a wicket from it. After 9 overs, LSG are 77/4.

Rashid Khan continues his spell and starts with a clever googly. Abdul Samad adjusts well and nudges it away for a single.

Nicholas Pooran then works one into the gap at deep mid-wicket for another run as Rashid keeps things tight. Samad blocks out the next few deliveries with solid defence, showing good composure against spin.

He finishes the over with a single.

Just 3 runs come off it, and after 10 overs LSG are 80/4. A very disciplined over from Rashid Khan, keeping the pressure firmly on.
16:13

LSG lose Markram, GT tighten grip

image
LSG 74-3 (8 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Prasidh Krishna comes into the attack, and Ayush Badoni gets him away straightaway, working it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

Aiden Markram then defends solidly before Prasidh beats him with a sharp, disciplined delivery outside off. It's tight bowling, giving him nothing to work with.

But Markram gets a slice of luck next ball--he edges one that's well-fielded by Glenn Phillips, but the ball pops out and rolls away to the boundary for four.

He tries to go again, lifting a flicked shot in the air, but Phillips can't hang on to a tough chance running across. It spills out and goes for another boundary.

Prasidh Krishna finally breaks through, though -- Markram departs for 30 off 21 balls, caught by Washington Sundar.

Nine runs and a wicket come from the over. After 7 overs, LSG are 69/3.

Nicholas Pooran walks in next, and Rashid Khan is introduced into the attack, bowling over the wicket with a slip in place.

Ayush Badoni and Pooran settle in quickly, working the ball around and rotating the strike with singles.

It’s a tight over from Rashid, with just 5 runs coming off it.

After 8 overs, LSG are 74/3, keeping things steady but without any real acceleration yet.
16:03

LSG lose 2 wkts in powerplay

image
LSG 60-2 (6 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Ashok Sharma replaces Kagiso Rabada, and Aiden Markram begins cautiously, jabbing one to the off side for no run.

Then comes the release shot--Markram stands tall and absolutely launches it for a six! But he can't keep the momentum going, slicing the next ball straight to backward point for no run.

He misses the tuck, and the ball runs off the thigh pad down to short third man for a leg bye. Ayush Badoni then capitalises on a loose delivery from Ashok Sharma, driving it away for four. A neat single rounds off the over.

12 runs come off it, and after 6 overs LSG are 60/2.

A solid powerplay overall--LSG with a quick start, but Gujarat Titans have struck twice to keep things in check.
15:58

Siraj strikes as Pant falls for 18

image
LSG 48-2 (5 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Kagiso Rabada continues, and Rishabh Pant looks to take him on but misses out on one early chance before cutting loose with a crisp four. He follows it up with a single towards square leg.

Aiden Markram then joins the act, smashing a boundary of his own as Rabada continues to leak runs. The over ends with another four--13 runs coming off it despite the pressure.

After 4 overs, LSG are 43/1, and the early wicket of Mitchell Marsh hasn't slowed them down.

Mohammed Siraj is back for his third over--and he strikes! He wins the battle against Pant, who goes after a short delivery but only finds the fielder. Rahul Tewatia takes a sharp catch and Pant departs for 18 off 11 balls.

Ayush Badoni is the new batter at the crease.

Ayush Badoni looks to clip it fine but is struck on the pads instead, and the ball deflects away for a leg bye.

Aiden Markram then misses out on his shot but manages to sneak a single on the next delivery. Badoni gets across and pushes one back to the bowler, followed by a wide being called.

He then cuts the next ball towards backward point, but there are no runs off it.

It’s been an excellent first spell from Mohammed Siraj, who concedes just 3 runs and picks up a wicket in the over.

After 5 overs, LSG are 48/2 -- a superb start with the ball from Siraj.
15:46

Marsh falls to Rabada

LSG 30-1 (3 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Mohammed Siraj continues into his second over, and Rishabh Pant greets him with a classy boundary to start things off.

Pant then attempts a scoop, but Siraj responds well with a disciplined good-length delivery outside off--no runs there. Pant nudges one into the off side for a single, and Aiden Markram follows with a push down to long-on for another.

Pant later shapes up for a shot but pulls out at the last moment, unable to get bat on ball. He then manages a single to backward square leg.

Just 7 runs come off the over. After 3 overs, LSG are 30/1.
15:41

Marsh falls to Rabada

image
LSG 23-1 (2 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Kagiso Rabada comes in from the other end, and Mitchell Marsh greets him in style--launching the first ball for a six! He follows it up immediately with a crisp boundary.

But Rabada fights back. Marsh goes for another big shot, but this time it lacks elevation and flies straight to Shubman Gill at mid-off, who makes no mistake.

Marsh departs after a quickfire 11 off just 4 balls.

Rishabh Pant is the new batter at the crease, and he wastes no time making an impact. He charges down the track to a good-length delivery outside off and carves it away for four—what an audacious shot!

He follows it up with a quick single to rotate strike. Then there’s more reward for LSG as a ball drifting down leg allows Aiden Markram to pick up another four.

Despite the wicket, it’s been an expensive over for Rabada -- 19 runs off it.

After 2 overs, LSG are 23/1.
15:36

Watchful start for Lucknow

LSG 4-0 (1 Ovs) vs GT | SCORECARD

Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh walk out to the middle as the Gujarat Titans fielders gather in a tight huddle. Markram takes strike to start the innings, with Mohammed Siraj steaming in with the new ball.

Markram gets off the mark with a controlled push towards mid-off, but no run there. He then shuffles across and clips one to deep square leg for a couple, though it looked like three was on before a sharp piece of fielding from Prasidh Krishna cuts it off in the heat of the afternoon.

There's a flick down the leg side that results in a leg bye, and Marsh finally joins the scoring with a quick single. Siraj finishes the over with a dot ball.

Just four runs come off the first over -- a watchful and steady start from the LSG openers.

Gujarat opt to bowl in Lucknow

image

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant stepped out for the toss but it was Shubman Gill who got the call right.

Gujarat Titans have won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Shubman Gill was all smiles after winning the toss, he said, 'Every two points is crucial and in the early games we've seen matches going down to the wire -- so those points really matter and bring relief. We've had a tremendous run. For me, consistency is the key, and that's exactly what we strive for.'

Rishabh Pant, meanwhile, said he would have bowled first as well. Reflecting on their previous win, he added, 'Amazing. Every win is important, and when you win like that, it feels even better but we move on. Head-to-head record is a great boost but you still have to bring your best every game. Last match we spoke about intent, and that's always our focus. The intent was excellent.'

Both LSG and GT are unchanged

LSG face tough test against GT

image

Lucknow Super Giants will host Gujarat Titans in Lucknow, aiming to overcome their poor home record.

Despite discovering a new talent in Mukul Choudhary, LSG have struggled at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, winning just nine of 22 matches and losing six of eight games there last season. They also began this season with a home defeat to Delhi Capitals.

However, LSG come in with confidence after back-to-back away wins, including a standout performance against Kolkata Knight Riders where Mukul impressed with a powerful finishing display. Ayush Badoni’s return to form further strengthens their batting lineup.

GT, meanwhile, are boosted by a thrilling win over Delhi, with Rashid Khan back in top form and key contributions from Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler.

With GT leading the head-to-head 4-3, and a balanced pitch expected, the contest promises to be closely fought.
