Royal Challengers Bengaluru climbed back to second on the points table with a composed 5-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in front of their home crowd.

Gujarat Titans posted a strong 205, powered by a superb century from Sai Sudharsan. 

In reply, RCB were given an early reprieve when Virat Kohli was dropped in the very first over--a moment GT will look back on with regret. Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal then settled things down and slowly tilted the chase in RCB's favour.

But Krunal Pandya kept things under control, guiding RCB home comfortably in the end.

Jason Holder is handed the 19th over, and starts with a clever slower bouncer that beats Krunal Pandya. Krunal pulls away the next delivery but can only manage a single.

Tim David looks a bit scratchy as he swings and picks up just a run. Then Krunal steps up--smashing a crucial boundary to bring the scores level.

He calmly finishes the job with a single to seal it.

Manav Suthar continues, but Krunal Pandya turns the pressure back immediately--hammering back-to-back boundaries to ignite the chase for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Devdutt Padikkal then takes charge--beaten once, but responds in style by launching a massive six. There's a wide down the leg side, and he makes the next ball count too, smashing another six.

With that, Padikkal brings up a blazing fifty off just 20 balls. He keeps the strike moving with a single, while Kohli rotates strike to close the over.

Then Kohli shifts gears--back-to-back boundaries, placed perfectly between fielders, showcasing his timing and control. He looks in complete command, even when a cover drive finds the fielder.

Mohammed Siraj continues, and Jacob Bethell starts the over confidently, driving past point for a couple. Virat Kohli follows with a push into the covers for a quick single.

Bethell then produces a gorgeous shot, timing it sweetly for a boundary, and looks in good touch. He attempts to go big again, but this time doesn't quite get hold of it--Shahrukh Khan makes no mistake in the field and takes a safe catch.

Bethell starts confidently, leaning into a crisp drive but finding cover. He then gets off the mark with a single, tucked neatly to the left of Rashid Khan at mid-wicket.

A big moment early--Washington Sundar puts down a sitter. It should have been taken comfortably, but the ball pops out after hitting his hands. A real chance goes begging--could that prove costly for Gujarat Titans?

There's more sloppy work in the field as Jason Holder misfields, allowing Kohli to pick up a couple.

A strong batting effort from Gujarat Titans. The openers set the tone early, racing to 57 in the powerplay, with Sai Sudharsan leading the charge in fluent style. At one stage, GT were in complete control at 121 without loss after 12 overs.

But the innings lost momentum in the middle overs, and despite finishing on 205, there will be debate on whether they were slightly under par on a good batting surface and whether their reliance on the top order is becoming a pattern.

Useful late runs from Jason Holder pushed GT past 200 but Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowled smartly at the death to prevent a late explosion.

A competitive total on the board--but whether 205 is enough will be tested under lights.

Rasikh Salam Dar was handed the final over, but things quickly went off script as he pulled up mid-run-up, appearing to struggle with cramps. The physio rushed in, and he was unable to complete his spell.

That forced Krunal Pandya to take over the final over duties for Gujarat Titans.

Krunal then briefly stopped in his run-up, appearing to have a possible groin concern, but he continued after a check from the physio.

Holder swings hard at the next one but misses, before getting a bit of luck as a rare misfield from Rajat Patidar allows him to come back for two more.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back to complete his spell, and starts with singles for both batters. Washington then picks up another run, working one off the back foot through mid-wicket.

But the breakthrough arrives--Buttler goes for the reverse scoop on a low full toss, but mistimes it completely. Josh Hazlewood takes a sharp catch, and Buttler departs for 25 off 16 balls.

Suyash Sharma continues, and Sai Sudharsan greets him in style--launching a massive six, his fifth of the night, and moving into the 90s. Sai tries to return the favour straight back to the bowler, but Suyash is struck on the hand while attempting a return catch. The physio is called on, but he is eventually cleared to continue.

Sai eases into a single, but then comes the breakthrough--Shubman Gill goes for a big shot on a short delivery and miscues it straight to Devdutt Padikkal at long-on. The GT captain departs after a fluent 32 off 24 balls.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will bowl first after Rajat Patidar flipped the coin and got the result his side wanted. 

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be aiming for a much-needed batting response when they face an equally inconsistent Gujarat Titans side in their Indian Premier League clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday.

RCB's batting has looked below its usual explosive best in recent matches. On a tricky surface against Delhi Capitals, they struggled to find momentum despite a fluent 63 from Phil Salt and eventually fell short by six wickets. Even their big hitters like Rajat Patidar and Tim David found scoring difficult, forced into unfamiliar roles as the pitch slowed them down.

That inconsistency has become a concern, with RCB also losing wickets in clusters despite winning earlier against Lucknow Super Giants. The management will be hoping for a stronger, more adaptable batting display this time, especially at home, where fans expect a dominant performance.

Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, arrive with their own issues. A shock collapse to 100 all out against Mumbai Indians exposed their batting fragility. While Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler have shown form, the middle order has failed to deliver meaningful support, leaving the team heavily dependent on a few key players.

Both sides, however, boast strong bowling attacks. With little separating them historically--three wins each in six meetings--Friday's contest promises another tight battle.
