Karun out for 26; India lose 2nd wicket

India 101-2 (24 ovs) & 587 vs Eng 407 | SCORECARD

Carse has a confident appeal for leg before wicket turned down against India captain Shubman Gill.

The incoming delivery came in as Gill missed the flick and was struck on the pads.

Initially, captain Stokes believed that there was an inside edge but looking at Gill's form they took a gamble. However, Stokes was right as the inside edge sees England losing a review.

But this is a good period for England with the ball as they have created some chances.

A couple of edges flew in between the slips while they have managed to stifle the flow of runs.

England have two fielders close in on each side for the drives and flicks for Gill as Chris Woakes bowls full but the India skipper is able to defend.

India are 101/2 in 24 overs, for an overall lead of 281 runs.

But Carse cuts short Karun's encouraging start. The right-hander goes for another drive through the off-side but the ball moves away enough to take the edge as wicketkeeper Jamie Smith dives to his right to grab the catch.

Karun unable to build on after a bright star as he is dismissed for 26.

India are 96/2 in 21 overs, for an overall lead of 276 runs.

The ball has certainly done a bit this morning under overcast skies at Headingley.

India eye commanding lead over England

'It's slightly overcast on Day 4, breezy, with the sun playing hide and seek,' says Deep Dasgupta.

'But these conditions are unlikely to change the nature of the pitch. It should play much the same as it did on Day 3.'

Jonathan Trott, meanwhile, expects the surface to remain consistent today but warns of variable bounce creeping in on Day 5, which could make things more interesting for the bowlers.

India let a golden chance slip in Leeds despite being on top for long stretches.

At Edgbaston, they have another opportunity - and this time, they're in no mood to let it go.

Dominant and disciplined, the visitors enter Day 4 firmly in charge, with a chance to bat England out of the contest and dictate every remaining move in this Test.

The morning session holds the key - snuff out any hopes of a comeback now, and the rest of the day could be about when to declare and how aggressively to go for the win.
