England 191-6 (19 Ovs) vs India 190-7 | SCORECARD

Jacob Bethell delivered a match-winning knock, anchoring one end before accelerating at the perfect time to seal the chase. His captain set the tone with a blistering counterattack after the early losses of Salt and Buttler, while Brook's aggression and Bethell's control combined to take England home.

India let the game slip in a key phase, managing just six singles in the 15th over before a quiet 16th over that brought only two runs and a wicket. England capitalised immediately, striking 18 runs across those two overs to wrestle back momentum.

The decisive blow came when Bethell took Bishnoi apart, smashing three sixes and a four in a 29-run over that swung the match firmly England's way.

With that, Bethell brought up a well-compiled fifty off just 39 balls, keeping England firmly in the chase. He added a couple more runs with a neat stroke to backward square leg before smashing another boundary and then following it up with a six. He finished the over with two more runs as England tore into the bowling.

Arshdeep Singh saved a boundary in the deep but appeared to injure his left shoulder in the process.

Will Jacks immediately opted for the review, but it turned out to be a crucial breakthrough for India. Jacks was dismissed for 9 off 8 balls.

Sam Curran walked in as the new batter, having already been impressive with the ball earlier in the match.

He got off the mark in style with a boundary and followed it up with a single. Bethell also found the boundary as England kept the scoreboard moving. Those boundaries have released the pressure, and England are very much alive in the chase once again.

Ten runs and a wicket came from the over. After 16 overs, England are 142/5, needing 49 runs from 24 balls.

England 115-3 (12 Ovs) vs India 190-7 | SCORECARD

After the drinks break, Harshit Rana was brought back into the attack. He began with a full delivery down the leg side.

Bethell lost his balance while attempting the flick, and the ball deflected off his pad through square leg for a couple of leg byes. Bethell then stayed back and clipped one through midwicket for a single. Banton kept the pressure on with a crisp boundary before playing a dot ball, riding the bounce and guiding it to backward point. He followed it with a single, driving on the up to Shreyas Iyer at mid-off. Bethell capped off the over in style with a boundary.

12 runs came from it, taking England to 103/3 after 11 overs.

Ravi Bishnoi was introduced into the attack and started with a wide. Banton welcomed him with a boundary and then made it back-to-back fours to keep England's chase on track. The batters rotated the strike for the remainder of the over, adding singles with ease.

Another 12-run over took England to 115/3 after 12 overs, leaving them needing 76 runs from 48 balls.

England 91-3 (9 Ovs) vs India 190-7 | SCORECARD

Varun Chakravarthy continues, but Jacob Bethell wastes no time--he launches the first ball for a huge six! England continue to attack despite the pressure.

Bethell then rides the bounce nicely and dabs one to short third for a single.

Banton enjoys a slice of luck next as a thick outside edge flies past the keeper for four.

He tries something audacious on the next ball, switching his stance for a reverse sweep, but fails to make contact.

A comfortable single follows for Banton before Bethell works the final ball to deep backward point for another run.

An expensive over for India--13 runs come from it.

After 10 overs, England are 91 for 3, needing exactly 100 runs from the final 60 balls.
21:45

History for Axar as England chase loses steam

England 78-3 (9 Ovs) vs India 190-7 | SCORECARD

Axar Patel's wicket of Harry Brook was a landmark one--his 100th T20I wicket, making him the first Indian spinner to reach the milestone and only the fourth Indian overall to get there.

Axar continues his spell, and England are happy to keep the scoreboard ticking. Bethell and Banton exchange singles before both batters continue rotating strike. A tidy over from Axar--just 6 runs from it. After 7 overs, England are 67 for 3.

Varun Chakravarthy is introduced into the attack.

He starts with a googly that Banton nudges into the leg side but can't score from. Banton quickly adjusts, bringing out the reverse sweep and threading it past short third for four.

He then slices one over point for a couple before nudging another into the on side for two more.

There's almost a run-out too. Bethell has to dive desperately at the bowler's end after a quick single. A direct hit could have made things very interesting.

Bethell safely sees out the final ball. Nine runs come from the over. After 8 overs, England are 76 for 3.

Axar returns and tightens the screws again. Banton defends the first two balls before picking up a single to long-off.

Bethell is beaten by one that grips, then steps out to work a single through midwicket. Axar finishes with another dot ball.

England 53-3 (5 Ovs) vs India 190-7 | SCORECARD

Ravi Bishnoi is introduced into the attack--can spin slow down this resurgent England chase?

There's early drama as a no-ball is called by the third umpire, leaving Bishnoi visibly frustrated, head tilted back in disappointment.

Jacob Bethell makes the most of it, smashing a boundary soon after. He then swings and misses at one, before picking up a single towards extra cover. Another crisp boundary follows as he continues to attack.

But Bishnoi ends the over strongly with a dot ball. 11 runs come from it. After 4 overs, England are 49 for 2.

Axar Patel is then brought into the attack from the other end.

Harry Brook nudges one to long-on for a single. Bethell holds firm for a delivery before also rotating strike.

Then comes the big moment--huge appeal for caught behind! The umpire sends it upstairs.

Harry Brook is gone for 39 off just 15 balls. He looks stunned as he walks off. Replays suggest a faint edge, with UltraEdge confirming a possible deflection off the glove.

A massive breakthrough for India.

England lose their third wicket. They now need 139 runs from 91 balls.
21:20

Brook unleashes six-hitting storm vs India

England 38-2 (3 Ovs) vs India 190-7 | SCORECARD

A short ball follows, aimed into the body. Brook rocks back in the crease and picks up a couple more runs with ease. Rana finishes the over with two dot balls at the end. A strong over overall--10 runs from it. After 2 overs, England are 11 for 2.

Arshdeep Singh continues from the other end. Jacob Bethell drives one on the up to deep backward point for a single.

Then Harry Brook explodes. Back-to-back boundaries, and he's in full flow now. But he doesn't stop there--he launches into sixes as well. It's a hat-trick of sixes from Brook, a stunning counter-attack that completely shifts the momentum.

What a response from the England batter.

27 runs come off the over. After 3 overs, England are 38 for 2, needing 153 from 102 balls.

England 1-2 (1 Ovs) vs India 190-7 | SCORECARD

Phil Salt and Jos Buttler walk out to begin England's chase, with Phil Salt taking strike. Arshdeep Singh has the new ball in hand.

And what a start for India--Phil Salt is gone! He goes after one, gets a thick edge, and Ishan Kishan does the rest behind the stumps.

Salt stands there in disbelief as India strike early in the chase.

Harry Brook nudges the inswinger off a length for a single to get off strike.

Jos Buttler then plays and misses -- another dot ball as India keep things tight.

But then comes a huge moment: Buttler is gone! He goes for a firm flick, but Varun Chakravarthy pulls off a sharp, well-judged catch. It looked destined for the boundary, but India get a massive breakthrough.

Jacob Bethell walks in as the new batter and safely negotiates the final ball of the over.

Just 1 run from it, and England lose 2 wickets in a tight, disciplined start from India.

Tilak Varma wastes no time--back-to-back sixes! He's taken the game on straightaway, shifting the mood in the ground and putting England under real pressure.

A wide follows, adding to the frustration for Archer, before Tilak finds another boundary--this time fine of third man. He's timing everything right now, picking gaps with ease.

Archer digs one in short and quick. Tilak goes for the pull across the line but misses completely.

There's a big appeal for height, but the umpire isn't interested. Replays show it was a perfectly legal bouncer.

Tilak then settles again, guiding a soft late slice to backward point for a single.

Then Harshit Rana walks in--and it doesn't last long. A faint edge, a hopeful appeal from Jos Buttler, and the finger goes up. Archer finally gets his breakthrough.

Rana goes for 6 off 3 balls.

India end on 190 for 7.

England need 191 to win.
20:42

India collapse continues as Axar falls

India 173-6 (19 Ovs) vs England | SCORECARD

Josh Tongue continues.

Tilak Varma works one into the midwicket region and comes back well for a sharp two, before adding a single off the next delivery.

But then--run out! Axar Patel is gone! It's chaos in the middle. Jos Buttler goes for a shy at the striker's end, but the throw ends up hitting the stumps at the bowler's end. Axar is well short, and he walks back for 2 off 3 balls. Buttler can only manage a sheepish smile.

Harshit Rana is the new batter.

Tilak flicks one fine for a single, before a wide is called down the leg side. Tongue follows it up with a wide yorker that Harshit can't get near.

But Rana finishes the over in style--SIX! A powerful strike to close things out.

11 runs and a wicket from the over. After 19 overs, India are 172 for 6.
20:36

Curran strikes, Kishan falls 1 short of fifty

image

India 162-5 (18 Ovs) vs England | SCORECARD

After that excellent over from Sam Curran, Will Jacks continues into the attack.

There's a big shout for LBW early on--but it's turned down. England choose not to review it.

Kishan responds in style, smashing a boundary. But soon after, there's another loud appeal for LBW as he misses a sweep. Jos Buttler and the bowler go up, but skipper Harry Brook feels it's too high and they opt against the review.

The rest of the over is controlled with singles. Seven runs come from it. After 17 overs, India are 153 for 4.

Sam Curran continues his spell. Kishan starts aggressively, lofting one beautifully over cover for four.

But just when he looks set to reach his fifty--he's gone! Kishan is caught by Liam Dawson.

He falls for 49 off 40 balls, agonisingly short of a well-deserved half-century.

Axar Patel walks in as the new batter.

Axar Patel is the new batter at the crease.

He ducks under a sharp delivery and then picks up a single off the next ball to get going.

Then comes drama -- Tilak Varma is caught by Jofra Archer! It’s a leg-cutter slower ball, and Archer takes the catch, but immediately there’s uncertainty. Sam Curran goes up to check with him as questions are raised over the cleanliness of the take.

Archer insists he’s got his fingers underneath it, though replays suggest the hands may have been slightly spread. Curran doesn’t look convinced. The Indian fans roar in the stands.

The umpires step in to review everything, including whether the batters had crossed. After the checks, it’s ruled a dot ball and Tilak survives the scare.

A single follows to end the over. Eight runs and a wicket from it. After 18 overs, India are 162 for 5.
20:22

Dube falls for cheap; India 4 down

India 146-4 (16 Ovs) vs England | SCORECARD

Archer is back into the attack as Shivam Dube walks in as the new batter.

Kishan starts by gliding one to deep backward point for a single. Dube gets off the mark too with a quick run. The batters rotate strike smartly before Kishan finishes the over with a boundary. Eight runs come from it. After 14 overs, India are 138 for 3.

Will Jacks is introduced next, and it's a quiet over with both batters happy to pick up singles--six of them in total as India keep the scoreboard moving.

Sam Curran returns to the attack. Kishan swings and misses straight away, struggling to find timing as Curran keeps it tight outside off. There are a few more failed attempts as Kishan goes searching for boundaries but can't connect--four dots in the over.

He finally manages to work one to short fine leg for a single.

But then--wicket! Shivam Dube goes after one too many, gets a huge slice off the toe end, and skies it down the ground. Tom Banton takes yet another catch at mid-off--his third of the day.

Dube departs for 5 off 7 balls, and England strike again at a crucial moment.
20:06

Shreyas Iyer falls after brilliant 37

India 130-3 (13 Ovs) vs England | SCORECARD

Liam Dawson is back into the attack.

Shreyas Iyer drives the flighted delivery over cover and comes back hard for two, clearly looking to keep the strike. He then cuts one towards the deep, but a sharp effort in the field stops it--just two more added.

Then comes the moment of brilliance--SIX! Dawson gives him no room, but Shreyas creates power out of nowhere, launching it cleanly despite being rushed. What a shot that is.

He pushes the next one away for a single, and Kishan follows with a calm strike down to long-on for one.

But just when he looks set, Shreyas Iyer is gone! He goes for one shot too many against the spinner and is caught by Tom Banton.

A well-made 37 off 22 balls comes to an end. Banton stays composed under the high ball, never taking his eyes off it.

A wicket and 12 runs from the over. After 13 overs, India are 130 for 3.

Then comes a chance for England--Rashid to Kishan, and it's FOUR! A misjudgement in the deep from Phil Salt, who lets one through. He's been so sharp out there all tournament, and Rashid looks far from pleased.

Kishan capitalises again with another boundary, before adding a single towards long-on to keep the strike. A productive over--12 runs from it. After 11 overs, India are 108 for 2.

Josh Tongue is back into the attack.

Kishan works it into the mid-wicket region and they come back for two, followed by a single. Shreyas then explodes into action with a crisp boundary, before rotating strike again with a single.

But then--pain for Shreyas Iyer. Tongue digs one in short and it rises sharply, striking him on the glove. He immediately winces in pain, shaking his hand as he calls for the physio.

The physio is out quickly as Shreyas removes his glove, clearly in discomfort. The ball has hit him flush on the right index finger, and there's real concern as he continues to flex his hand.

Ishan Kishan finishes the over with a flick to deep mid-wicket for a single. 10 runs from it. After 12 overs, India are 118 for 2.

Iyer recovers quickly--nudging one through the on-side for two, before driving another calmly to long-off for a single. Composed batting from the captain.

Ishan Kishan has a quick change of bat as well, continuing his consistent run of form over the last 2-3 months. He's been India's standout performer in T20 cricket recently.

A single brings an end to the over--9 runs from it. After 7 overs, India are 74 for 2.

Adil Rashid is then brought into the attack. Kishan works one towards midwicket for a single, before Shreyas Iyer finds the boundary with a beautifully timed shot--pure class from the Indian skipper.

The next one drops into no-man's land around deep third. Tongue gives chase but can't cut it off, allowing a single for Kishan.

Abhishek continues in aggressive fashion, dealing almost entirely in boundaries. Another one races away to the rope as he keeps the pressure on England.

Welcome to live coverage of the second T20I between England and India at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Rain threatens again after the series opener in Durham was washed out without a ball being bowled. Conditions in Manchester look slightly improved, but scattered showers are still in the forecast through the day.

That leaves the door open for delays or a shortened game if the weather turns.

The big talking point remains Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old prodigy is yet to make his India debut, having missed out in the first T20I. But pressure is building, with fans and former cricketers pushing hard for him to be handed his cap in Manchester.

India, however, may stick with experience at the top, despite growing calls to unleash their teenage sensation.
