Mohammed Shami is back in the Indian team after a lengthy injury lay-off. His last outing for India was in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia.

He made a comeback to competitive cricket during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he took 11 wickets in nine matches, before picking up five wickets in three one-day games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He has been one of India's top performers in World Cups, with a stunning record of 55 wickets in 18 games at an average of 13.
