Welcome to the coverage of the Indian Premier League 2025 match No. 29 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indias (MI) at the at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Table-toppers DC, who will be eying their fifth consecutive wins, are up against a struggling MI, who are placed ninth on the 10-team points table with one win and four losses.
It will be DCs first game at home this season, having played two matches at Visakhapatnam, their second home.
DC and MI have met 35 times in IPL, with the latter winning 19 of them. MI have also won three of the last five encounters between them.
However, MI have so far endured a nightmarish season. Their only win came against Kolkata Knight Riders in a low-scoring match.
On the other hand, DC will head into the match as the only undefeated team in the league.
K L Rahul has been a revelation for them, having already accumulated 185 runs at an astonishing average of 92.50 and a strike rate of 169.72. He has already hit two fifties in three matches so far.
Besides, he holds an enviable record against MI, having tallied 950 runs in 18 innings to be the highest scorer against them in IPL history.
DC flaunt arguably the best spin unit in the league, spearheaded by the wily Kuldeep Yadav. He is ably supported skipper Axar Patel and rookie Vipraj Nigam. Kuldeep has picked eight wickets so far this season at a brilliant economy rate of just under 6 per over.
Their pace bowling department, consisting of Mitchell Starc, Mukesh Kumar, and Mohit Sharma have also done well so far, picking up wickets at crucial junctures while containing the run flow.
Although DCs opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has struggled, their solid top and middle-order have delivered the goods for them.
The five-time champions MI, on the other hand, have not been able to decode the winning formula. Rohit Sharma has struggled to get going in the four matches he has played, managing only 38 runs in four innings.
The other key batters - Thilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya - have enjoyed sporadic success, but not have been consistent enough to take them over the line.
Jasprit Bumrahs return to the playing XI has definitely boosted their bowling unit, but their spin department lacks experience and depth.
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, teams batting first have won eight of the last 12 games and the average first innings score in those matches has been 200.
With DC looking to keep their winning momentum intact and MI eager to return to winning ways, Sunday promises to be a thrilling affair.
