Ind 473-8 (120 ovs) vs Eng 218 | Scorecard

England bowlers led by Shoaib Bashir inflicted regular blows in the third session but India reached 473 for eight in their first innings at the end of the second day of the fifth Test in Dharamsala on Friday.

Off-spinner Bashir (4/170) and left-arm spinner Tom Hartley (2/126) scythed through India's late middle-order, but the hosts found some late resistance from Kuldeep Yadav (27 batting) and Jasprit Bumrah (19 batting) to stretch the lead to 255 runs.

Before that India batsmen made a merry run as Rohit Sharma (103), Shubman Gill (110) made hundreds while Sarfaraz Khan (56) and debutant Devdutt Padikkal (65) ran England ragged.

The lone point of consolation for England was the sight of their skipper Ben Stokes bowling, a first since last year's Ashes.

Stokes got rid of his opposite number Rohit too to make the occasion memorable.

Wood continues as he bowls the final over of the day and Bumrah plays out four dots. Bumrah then pulls the ball down to backward square leg for a single.

Kuldeep defends the last ball of the day and that is stumps on Day 2.

Bashir continues and after two dots, Kuldeep takes a swipe, gets an edge and is dropped in the slips.

Kuldeep then swipes and sweeps the ball through square leg for a four!

Two dots to end the over as 5 come off it.

Wood comes back into the attack and Bumrah welcomes him with a superb drive through covers for a four as he punishes a full ball.

Bumrah then plays two defensive shots. He plays two dots before taking a quick single to end the over. 5 come off the over.

Bashir continues and Kuldeep plays out a maiden.

Bashir and Hartley continue to operate from either end and Bumrah and Kuldeep are happy to play the spinners watchfully, 2 runs come from 2 overs.
