The next ball is again too straight, a half-volley on the leg stump, as Smith flicks it through square leg for a four to take his score to 99.
Another overpitched delivery on the middle and leg stump line as Smith flicks it through midwicket for another boundary to bring up his 31st Test century.
Smith continues his superb run in England, as he registers his seventh hundred in England -- only behind the great Don Bradman, who had 11 Test centuries in England.
Smith brings up his ninth Test hundred against India the same as Joe Root -- the most by any player against India in Tests.
The next ball is on length and swings in as Smith is hit on the pads but the LBW shout is turned down.
Australia continue in the same vein as nine runs come from the first over of the day.

Head clips the fourth ball for a single to midwicket and Smith does the same next ball.
Head is beaten last ball as he throws his bat at the wide full delivery trying to smash it through the covers.
