Siraj enjoying himself out in the middle. A short wide ball from Saleem as Siraj rocks back to late cut it over gully for a four.

However, Saleem has the last laugh as he knocks over Siraj next ball.

Siraj goes for the big slog but misses the full delivery and is bowled after an entertaining 22 from 12 balls.

Saleem has been excellent with the ball, chipping away at the wickets for wonderful figures of 6/123 in 24 overs.

Spinner Kharote back into the attack. Sundar keeps out the first few balls before taking one to long-on. Mohammed Siraj swings a full toss through midwicket for a four to get off the mark and leaves the last ball.

Saleem, only the third Afghanistan bowler to pick a five-wicket haul in Tests, continues from the other end.

He bowls too full and on the pads as Sundar plays a nice flick through midwicket for a four and then takes one through point.

In the next over, Siraj attempts to slog sweep Kharote over cow corner but is beaten as Afghanistan appeal for caught behind. They take the review but there is nothing on the Ultra Edge as they lose another review.

Siraj then swings the spinner over midwicket for a huge six before lofting the next ball over mid-on for a four.

Siraj in full flow as he rocks back to punch Kharote through point for a four to take his score to 18 -- his highest in Test cricket.

Kharote floats it wide as Siraj misses the swipe over midwicket. The next ball is full and turns sharply to beat Siraj on the defensive shot this time.

With Suthar going after the spinners, pacer Saleem comes back into the attack. He bowls a quiet over conceding just two singles in his 21st over.

The two batters pick two singles each off Omarzai's next over to easily collect four runs from the over.

India's batters have found it difficult to dominate against the Afghanistan pacers, who have bowled with a lot of discipline.

The partnership between the two left-handers has crossed the 50-run mark.

Saleem completes his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests as he gets Suthar caught behind after a good hand of 28.

A magnificent spell from the fast bowler as he toiled hard on a tough pitch for the bowlers.

India 491-6 (112 ovs) vs Afg | SCORECARD

Off-spinner Shahidi starts off with the ball after the lunch break. Sundar clips the third ball for a single before Suthar uses his feet to loft the spinner back over his head for a six.

This shot from debutant Suthar makes India's intent clear in the second innings. They would be looking to score quickly and get past 600 before putting Afghanistan into bat late in the second session or in the third.

Pacer Azmatullah Omarzai from the other end. Sundar gets on top of the bounce to punch the back of length delivery through the covers for a four.

He again hits the next ball of the backfoot in the gap at covers for two runs and then takes one. A single each to the two batters off the last two balls of the over.

Suthar gets off the mark in Test cricket in aggressive fashion. He chips down the track to hammer spinner Shahidi down the ground past mid-on for a four.

Shahidi keeps it full on the line of off-stump as Suthar watchfully keeps out the rest of the over.

In the next over, Sundar clips Shahidi off his pads for a single and Suthar solid with his defence against the off-spinner.

Spin from both ends as offie Abdul Malik comes back into the attack. Suthar again down the track and as he lofts the spinner dragging it past mid-on for a four before playing out the rest of the over.

Left-arm spinner Kharote back from the other end to bowl the final over of the session.

Sundar clips the full deliveries with soft hands on the leg side before he takes a single to mid-on and Suthar keeps out the last ball to end the morning session.

India go into the lunch break on Day 2 on 475/6 in 110 overs, with Sundar on 14 and Suthar on nine.

India 456-6 (103 ovs) vs Afg | SCORECARD

The wickets keep tumbling for India in the morning session. Rishabh Pant can't hold back against spinner Hashmatullah Shahidi as he looks to hit it out of the ground. He ends up holing out a simple catch to the fielder at long-off to be dismissed for 81.

India have stumbled from 416/3 to 456/6 in the space of 42 balls as Afghanistan fight back courtesy of a spirited performance from their pacers.

Debutant Manav Suthar keeps out the last two balls to end the over from Shahidi.

Saleem picks 4th wicket; Jurel out for 19

India 456-5 (102 ovs) vs Afg | SCORECARD

Wayward bowling from Ziaur as he sprays the full delivery way down the leg side to Pant giving even wicketkeeper Zazai no chance for four byes.

Pant then ambles across for an easy single and is lucky that he spots the wicketkeeper rushing to the ball. Zazai strikes the stumps with the direct hit but Pant stretches off towards the end to make his crease.

In the next over, Jurel pulls Saleem for a boundary before the pacer gets revenge next ball.

Saleem continues his wicket ways, taking his fourth of the innings with a peach of a delivery. Jurel offers no shot to a length ball outside the off-stump which swings in sharply to strike the stumps.

Jurel can't believe what just happened as he takes a few seconds to gather himself before walking off after scoring 19 from 20 balls.

Exceptional bowling from Saleem on a tough pitch to pick 4/102 in his 18th over.

He nearly strikes again next ball. Left-hander Washington Sundar gets an edge trying to defend which falls just short of the wicketkeeper and goes through for a four.

Pant comes down the track to drive Ziaur through the covers for two runs to the man in the deep and clips the next for a single off his pads.

Ziaur bowls a beauty to beat Jurel on the outside edge as he gets the ball to move away with the batter missing the defensive push.

In the next over, Jurel clips Saleem off his pads for two runs. He then carves the back of length delivery from the pacer using the pace quite well to steer it through the vacant thirdman region for a four.

Saleem goes fuller and this time beats Jurel with some movement as the right-hander pushes at it without any foot movement.

India are well-placed on 440/4 in 100 overs with Pant on 78 and Jurel on 14.

Gill out for 126; India lose 4th wicket

India 430-4 (98 ovs) vs Afg | SCORECARD

No spin yet today for Afghanistan as pacer Ziaur comes back into the attack. Pant picks a single first ball into the covers before Jurel watchfully keeps out the last five balls.

Saleem nears picks another wicket as Pant is beaten on the outside edge by a length ball which stays quite low and bounces in front of the keeper.

Pant then swings hard but gets an under edge which narrowly misses the stumps and goes fine on the leg side for a four.

Pant pushes Saleem to deep point for a single before Jurel goes back to guide the short wide ball past the man at gully for a four.

Gill out for 126; India lose 4th wicket

India 420-4 (96 ovs) vs Afg | SCORECARD

Omarzai has bowled well with the second new ball. He was unlucky not to dismiss both Gill and Pant in a single over as Afghanistan captain didn't opt to take the review both times.

Once again Pant is dragged forward by a length ball which moves away enough to beat the left-hander on the outside edge.

Pant pushes the fourth ball into the off-side for a single and Gill keeps out the last two balls.

Saleem ends Afghanistan's frustration with the wicket of Gill. The back of length delivery swings away as Gill looking to drive on the up gets the edge and is caught behind.

Gill walks back after a superb knock of 126 from 177 balls, with 15 fours and a six. He put on 169 runs from 216 balls for the fifth wicket with Pant to put India on course for a 500-run plus total.

Saleem has been the most successful bowler for Afghanistan with figures of 3/78 from 14.5 overs.

Dhruv Jurel off the mark in smashing fashion as he pulls the first ball he faces from Saleem for a four.

Interestingly, Omarzai missed out on Pant's wicket as well in his previous over as the UltraEdge shows a clear edge when the ball passed the bat.

Pant looks to disrupt the pacers' length as he steps down the track to Ziaur and has a big swing but gets a thick inside edge which goes for a four through fine leg.

Ziaur then strays down the leg side as Pant misses the clip but the ball goes fine off the pads for four leg byes followed by a single.

Omarzai continues as Pant keeps out the first few balls before he drives the pacer to deep point for a single and Gill keeps out the last two deliveries.

In the next over, Pant gives Ziaur the charge and lofts the pacer over the off-side for a boundary. He pulls the pacer to deep square leg for a single before Gill slashes a short wide delivery past point for the second four of the over.

Dominant India eye huge total on Day 2

India 378-3 (89 ovs) vs Afg | SCORECARD

Azmatullah Omarzai from the other end but still no new ball for Afghanistan.

Gill square drives a full wide delivery to deep point for a single before Pant uses his feet to smash the pacer through the covers for a four.

Afghanistan have taken the second new ball after 86.4 overs. This move might have been prompted by Pant using his feet against Omarzai.

Immediately some movement and extra pace for Omarzai as Pant is struck high on the pads and he leaves the last ball.

Ziaur continues from the other end, to bowl his 17th over. Gill plays another easy drive, hitting the full delivery to deep point for a single and Pant plays out the rest of the over.

Afghanistan have looked to bowl with discipline, not concede easy boundaries. The pitch hasn't offered much but they have stuck to a good line and length to make the Indians work hard for their runs.

Some late swing for Omarzai as Gill adjusts well to tap it on the off-side. A superb incoming delivery from the seamer as Gill is beaten by the movement and struck on the pads.

That looks quite close but the umpire is unmoved. Afghanistan, who have one review left, decide against the DRS as wicketkeeper Zazai is not sure.

And for the second time in this innings, Afghanistan miss out a wicket by not taking the review. It is three reds on the DRS as the ball has struck in line and going on to hit the stumps.

They had not taken the review against Rahul which proved costly on Day 1 as he went on to hit a hundred.

Interestingly, the umpire has ruled it as inside edge as he believed Gill had got an inside edge before the ball hit the pads.

Omarzai then has another appeal turned down as he beats Pant on the outside edge with a full delivery that jags away sharply.

India's two set batters will need to start off again on the second day. Shubman Gill, resuming on 103, walks out to bat along side Pant, who stroked 50.

Pacer Ziaur Rahman opens the bowling for Bangladesh on Day 2. Surprisingly, they continue with the old ball despite the second new ball being available.

Gill defends the first ball pitched on the stumps before he clips the next past midwicket for two runs.

Gill is then beaten on the outside edge as he plays away from the body before he plays and misses next ball as it stays quite low.

Gill mistimes the cut as he under edges it for a single and Pant keeps out the last ball.

India 368-3 (85 ovs) vs Afg | SCORECARD

Captain Shubman Gill and K L Rahul scored centuries as India dominated Day 1 to reach 368/3 at stumps in the one-off Test against Afghanistan.

Gill continued his excellent record as India captain, registering his sixth hundred after taking over the Test captaincy. He was unbeaten on 103 at stumps on the opening day with Rishabh Pant not out on 50 at the other end.

The two batters were involved in an unbroken stand of 121 ruins for the fourth wicket to put India on course for a huge total after they had elected to bat first.

Opener Rahul made his 12th Test century but perished off the next ball. Sai Sudharsan stroked a fluent 81, put together 139 runs for the second wicket with Rahul.

It was hard work for Afghanistan's bowlers as they managed only one wicket in each of the three sessions. Pacer Saleem Safi was their top wicket-taker with figures of 2/67 in 13 overs.
