KKR win toss, opt to field vs CSK

MS Dhoni walks out with a trademark smile as the Chepauk crowd erupts with excitement!

KKR win the toss and elect to bowl first against CSK in this high-stakes clash.

Ajinkya Rahane says, "We'll bowl first. Plenty of positives from the last game'"we played really well as a team. The pitch looks good and shouldn't change much. We're batting deep, so chasing makes sense. One change: Moeen Ali comes in for Spencer."

MS Dhoni says, "We wanted to bat first too. The pitch tends to slow down, and if you don't start well, the middle order feels the pressure. Ruturaj is out of the tournament with a fractured elbow. We've lost a few games-some by big margins-but mostly it's been about small lapses: a dropped catch, a 20-run over. Time to focus on basics-tight bowling and sharp fielding. Couple of changes for us- Tripathi comes in for Ruturaj, and Anshul Kambhoj replaces Mukesh.'

Retirement? Not so fast! Dhoni reclaims CSK throne

image

The iconic MS Dhoni is set to make a sensational return as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain when they face off against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Chepauk Stadium on Friday.

Dhoni takes the reins from Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL 2025 season due to a serious elbow injury.

Dhoni's return to captaincy has instantly silenced the retirement buzz that had been gaining momentum-especially after his parents were seen attending CSK's previous match, sparking speculation about a farewell. But with the captain's armband back on Dhoni, those rumours can be put to rest-for now.

However, CSK are in desperate need of a turnaround. The five-time champions are reeling from four straight defeats, placing them second-last on the IPL table.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane's KKR have had an inconsistent run, with two wins and three losses so far.

Historically, CSK have dominated this rivalry. In 30 IPL encounters, CSK have come out on top 19 times, while KKR have managed just 10 wins, with one match ending in no result.

At the Chepauk fortress, the numbers are even more lopsided-8 wins to CSK, just 3 for KKR.As Dhoni returns to the helm at his beloved home ground, the stage is perfectly set for a high-stakes clash under the lights in Chennai.
