Rajesh Alva/Rediff.com who sent us this picture of people outside the Damur Nagar slum says, the fire began at approximately 12:20 pm. There was thick smoke followed by a series of explosions -- at least 30 of them. The Damur Nagar slums have at least 300 to 400 shanties.

Two hours hence, Rajesh says the plumes of smoke have reduced. He said a few people with burn injuries were seen, but there were no reports of casualties. Slum dwelleers were seen carrying their gas cylinders with them.
