Oval set for a nail-biting finish!

image

England 2nd inns 50-1 (13.5 ovs); Target: 374Scorecard

Welcome to the coverage of the fourth day of the fifth and final Test between England and India for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval.

Going into the final day, the equation is simple: England need 324 runs to win the series and India require six wickets to level the contest 2-2.

After posting 396 in their second innings, India ended the day on a high.

Mohammed Siraj castled opener Zak Crawley to leave the game on a knife-edge heading towards the fourth day.

At stumps on Day 3, the hosts reached 50-1, still needing 324 more runs with two full days of play remaining.

Earlier in the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered yet another masterclass, smashing a scintillating 118 off 164 deliveries and was ably supported by night watchman Akash Deep (66 off 94 balls), Washington Sundar (53 off 46 balls), and Ravindra Jadeja (53 off 77 balls) to take India to a formidable total of 396.

Apart from the talismanic Joe Root, Ben Duckett, who is batting on 34 off 48 balls, and Harry Brook, who is expected to come at No. 5, hold the key to England's chances of overhauling the stiff target.

With Chris Woakes ruled out of the rest of the Test with a shoulder injury on Day 1, India effectively need eight more wickets to win the game and square the series.

The highest successful chase is 263 at The Oval but the visitors will be wary of Bazball's unpredictability.
