Welcome to the coverage of the Indian Premier League 2025 match No. 24 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, April 10 2025.
RCB, with three wins in four matches, are placed third on the points table, behind Gujarat Titans and Capitals. The Axar Patel-led DC are yet to lose a game this season, winning three matches on the bounce.
Interestingly, RCB have won all their three away matches so far, in Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai. Their only loss was at home, against Gujarat Titans. DC will be keen to add to their home woes and make it four wins on the trot.
Out of the 96 matches held in Chinnaswamy since 2008, the team batting first has won 41 matches while the chasing team has emerged victorious 51 times. The highest total is 287/3, set by Sunrisers Hyderabad against RCB in IPL 2024.
RCB and DC have met 31 times in the IPL, with RCB winning 19 and Delhi claiming 11 wins. One match produced no results.
Last season, they clashed only once, RCB winning it by 47 runs.
DC have a more balanced bowling attack with Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and skipper Axar, who have the ability to take wickets regardless of the surface.
Starc has had a dream run with the ball, picking up five wickets in the Powerplay in the first three games this season.
RCBs batting relies heavily on Virat Kohli and skipper Rajat Patidar, and unless they get big runs, RCB will be in a spot of bother.
Kohli was in sublime form in the last match against Mumbai Indians, hitting a fluent 42-ball 67. He has tallied 164 runs from four games so far. Against MI, he has also become the first Indian to breach the 13,000-run mark in T20 cricket.
Patidar and Jitesh Sharma too have made useful contributions to their totals this season.
DC will be keen to see the return of former RCB skipper Faf du Plessis after missing the game against Chennai. If he is fit, he will open the innings along with K L Rahul, who has been in fine form against CSK with a 51-ball 77. Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs have also been in good nick.
RCBs new ball bowlers, Aussie Jose Hazelwood and the seasoned Bhuvneshwar Kumar, have done a neat job so far. Pacer Yash Dayal and spinner Krunal Pandya have also been effective.
With the Chinnaswamy surface expected to be batting-friendly, both teams will be looking to win the toss and put a 200-plus total on the board.
