PM accepts responsibility in CVC case

Breaking now: PM Manmohan Singh clarifies on the CVC issue, breaking his silence for the first time since the Supreme Court verdict on the appointment of PJ Thomas. It may remembered the SC struck down the appointment calling it illegal and had asked the CVC to step down.

He said, "I accept responsibility and respect the Supreme Court verdict. There was no coalition compulsion in this case [unlike his clarification on the 2G scam].

The PM will speak to the Parliament next week, but this response will probably take the wind out of the Opposition's sail.
