Prithvi Sankala
This is my third film, after Vijay Kumar's Kahan Ho Tum and Sukumar Nair's Shaheed-e-Azam. I have also worked on a BBC project based on Gautam Buddha. I have been into theatre for 14 years in Indore, and have recently done a few shows at [Mumbai's] Prithvi and NCPA theatres.
I play Joshi, a businessman with contacts in the underworld. He dresses up as Gandhiji, but is a Hindu fundamentalist. He doesn't want to act as Gandhi, but his problem is his face resembles the leader.
The tableau is organised by a local goon. During the procession, their (the characters dressed up as national leaders) truck meets with an accident and they get stuck in a godown. There is a riot in the city, and their real natures are exposed.
I had to prepare a lot. I lost weight, and studied Gandhiji. I worked on his style, his posture, everything.
