Made by Lal Jose, Classmates is the biggest hit in the history of Malayalam cinema. Yes, commercially it is a hit; it is also an extremely watchable and enjoyable film made in the commercial format.
Perhaps this is the perfect example of adding the right ingredients in the right proportions. There is romance, there is nostalgia, there is mystery, and there is suspense; excellent combination of all these, and you get a winning formula. It is a hundred percent director Lal Jose's film.
