Sirivantha
This Dr. Vishnuvardhan-starrer, directed by S Narayan and produced by Rockline Venkatesh, is one film that got maximum appreciation from the media, but the box office collections did not reflect that appreciation.
It came as a surprise that Jothe Jotheyalli, that was released alongside this film, overshadowed Sirivantha in business terms in most of the distribution areas except North Karnataka region, where Sirivantha is expected to do record business.
Despite the relative slow down at the box office, Sirivantha has made it to hit status because its lean script ensured it could be produced on a medium budget, despite the presence of a big star like Dr. Vishnuvardhan.
The performances of Dr. Vishnuvardhan and leading lady Shruthi, and great support from Doddanna, powered the film. Dialogues, written by director Narayan himself, were another major factor in holding audience interest. The music, by SA Raj Kumar, did not however live up to expectations.
The film has completed 50-75 day runs in most centers, while in Hubli it is moving towards the 100-day mark. The film's collections in B centers is especially encouraging, from a business point of view.
