Hubballi
Actor Sudeep seems to be on a roll at the box office of late. Having struck gold with his own production My Autograph, he also hit the bulls eye with Hubballi, directed by Om Prakash Rao and released in November.
Hubballi received one of the biggest openings ever in Kannada history, despite being sold at fancy rates in the major distribution areas. Sudeep himself was distributor for big areas like the Bangalore-Kolar-Tumkur districts, and was able to make sizeable profits on his investment.
The USP of the film is Sudeep's performance, and his costumes in the first half, wherein he plays a person who feigns loss of memory till midway through. The story especially at this stage moves at a rapid pace, punctuated with crucial chase and action scenes that have been very well choreographed.
Rakshitha's presence as leading lady lends an edge; her coming timing and the item song wowed the audience. Though the second half of the film is full of fights and endless sequences highlighting the larger than life image of the hero, the film's success has answered all the criticism about these shortcomings.
