Lazio, Olympiakos draw 1-1

A late goal from captain Luciano Zauri (in the picture) gave Lazio a 1-1 draw with Olympiakos Piraeus in their opening Group C game.

His 77th-minute strike cancelled out a goal from Argentine winger Luciano Galletti although television replays suggested both were offside.

Lomana LuaLua went close soon after but it was Lazio who stepped up the tempo and the visitors received their reward when Zauri found space on the edge of the penalty area to beat Nikopolidis.

The game was played behind closed doors as a UEFA punishment for crowd trouble at Olympiakos's home match with AS Roma last season.
