Liverpool hold Porto to 1-1 draw

Ten-man Liverpool held Porto to a 1-1 draw despite a red card for Jermaine Pennant early in the second half of their Group A game.

Porto piled on the early pressure and were rewarded when winger Tarik Sektioui was brought down by Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina in the area and Argentine midfielder Lucho Gonzalez (in the picture) converted the penalty after eight minutes.

Liverpool, losing finalists last season, equalised with Dirk Kuyt's header from a high ball from defender Steve Finnan after 17 minutes.
