Valencia snatch 1-0 win over Schalke

David Villa (in the picture) struck midway through the second half to give Valencia a 1-0 win away to Schalke 04 in an uninspiring Group B opener.

Villa beat the German defence to a long diagonal pass from Miguel, took the ball round keeper Manuel Neuer and tucked in for the only goal in the 63d minute.
