Four more NSG commandos die, road accident toll reaches nine

The death toll in Monday's road accident involving National Security Guards personnel on the Jammu-Srinagar highway has gone up to nine -- late last night, four more commandos succumbed to injuries at the Army hospital, Srinagar.

The accident occurred when the truck carrying them fell into a 200-metre deep nallah, in Zig, near Bannihal. Five commandos had died on the spot.

All the injured were shifted to Srinagar. Five of the seriously injured have been airlifted to Delhi's All India Medical Institute.

The NSG men were on their way to Srinagar for protecting state Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah. The CM, senior administrators and police officials visited the injured at the army hospital.
