Aditya Thackeray joins alcohol-age debate

Joining the debate over the recent move by Maharashtra government to raise the age for consuming alcohol, Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray said the state should consider a "uniform age" of maturity on such matters.

"The Maharashtra government needs to consider a uniform age of maturity for voting, marriage, contesting elections and drinking (alcohol)," said Thackeray in an informal chat with reporters yesterday, on the Maharashtra government's decision to raise the age for consuming alcohol to 25 years.

He also stressed on the need to revamp the entire syllabus of Secondary School Certificate in the state
