Sarath Kumar's giant political leap

February 12, 2008
The February 10 conference started with Sarath Kumar hoisting the party flag in front of the massive pandal, which mirrored the one that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had put up in Tirunelveli in December.

After his wife, Radhika, lit the lamp a pledge akin to that of boy scouts was taken. Then followed a kavi sammelan (poets' gathering)... four in all.

Among them, a young girl aged about 20, enthralled the crowd with her eloquence. She will make a powerful orator for the party in the future. She lifted the crowd to delirious heights. Aishwarya Nagarajan, who happens to be party general secretary Karu Nagarajan's daughter, lived up to her father’s and party’s expectations.

A musical programme was next. Even though the conference started at 11 am in the morning, but the political conference started only at 5 pm.

Image: Leader after leader heaped praise on Sarath and reiterated how it was time for a change in Tamil Nadu politics.
