The bikini is 60!
When Louis Reard presented his bikini at a swimming pool in Paris, he couldn't even find a model to wear it. He hired a nude dancer called Micheline Bernardini to don it instead, guaranteeing even more of a sensation.
The original design consisted of a mere 30 inches of fabric. Reard claimed a bikini was not a bikini unless it could be pulled through a wedding ring!
