The much-talked about Angel of Victory atop the memorial was made in Italy.
It is 16 foot high and weighs 3 tons.
Though the angel used to twirl initially, it stopped rotating in 1985 when a layer of cement and marble dust obstructed the movement of its ball bearings.

A team led by Madhusudan Bhattacharya, former head of the mechanical engineering department, Jadavpur University, restored motion to the angel.
The angel stopped twirling again in 1999 after the ball bearings, cast in bronze, got stuck when lightning struck, melting them.
The angel regained its motion, seven years later, this May.
