I could make it that it was a quake. My son was beside me & showed me how the TV & the stereo system which was on top of TV were moving fast feeling they will both fall-off on the floor. The door was moving. It was really horrifying.We could observe the whole room moving & it did not stop for atleast 2-3 minutes. Frankly I hv never seen such a quake in my life. I immediately took my son & my whole family out of the room asked my neighbours too to rush out of their rooms & we all gathered in the open park area. It was almost 9.10 in morning were i was reading moring paper to lookout for January 26th news etc..were the bed start moving here and there and i was the first guy who shouted out of my balcony and collected my sister to run down the flat as i quickly new that it is an earthquack as from my previous expreicne of Latur earthquack which shuk parts of Pune in 1993 at around 3.00 am in morning were i was sleeping on bed and hit my head with wall which woke me up and was looking around and found no body !!!!! except air? I was watching news on the TV and at that time they were showing the Air Force Day parade on the TV. Since the flight path of the fighter planes participating in the parade passes over our house, we just heard the planes roaring over us and in a minute we saw the planes on the TV. I was sitting on my dewan and suddenly I felt as if the building was swaying from side to side. I told my wife, who was standing besides me that I can feel an earthquake. But she said it must be illusionary as the fighters had just passed over. But then she also felt the tremors as the door started vibrating. All this while the building was swaying. We just picked up my 15 month daughter and ran down the stair. Even when we reached the Ground floor, the tremors could still be felt. Get Up u Ass hole. I said - Are you joking. Man? This is no way wake somebody. But when he showed me cracks on the walls, irealized that there was a big tremour which shooked the country. We were so scared but didn't because there was no point moving down because the streets are so narrow and already there were so many people out there and God-forbid if some building collapes more casualities would be there on the streets then in the buildings....We remembered the tremors of the Gujarat earthquake, it felt like same, but it was for more time around 1 minute.....I am from Hauz rani, Khirki extn near malviya nagar and near my home i could see a newly made building got separate from the other building, actually this new building was built as if it was attached, which is very common in delhi, but now they are separate and there is quite lot of gap around 6 inches or more....If at anytime the quake epicenter is going to be Delhi or near Delhi i am afraid not even a single house would be spared and all will collapse especially conjusted areas like Hauz Rani,Khirki Village, Khirki extn, malviya nagar and many more place in central, western delhi like Pahad Ganj! At cannaught place I was sitting in office at 6th floor when the table and newspaper started shaking.The chair also started shaking. I could not understand immediately. Then all from the office started vacating and rushed outisde the building. Realy the experience was shocking. Though we are staying at First floor of the Flat we feel the earthquake. we are staying at KalaDarshan Flat, near to jodhpur gam of saellite area.it was around 9-30 morning time and i was talking on phone with my friend. immidiately cealing fans were moving to and fro and everything was moving. we immediately understand it is earthquake and we goes down. immediately all peoples from all the flats ( which is around 60 flats in total three building of our compound) comes down. everyone feel the earthquake but luckly there was no injury or cracking of building. SOjust to wake me up i went to one of my colleague's cabin to the other side as only we two were present in our department at that time. She also said in a joking manner that it is an earthquake. While we talking this much only, again i felt a tremor as if somebody is pushing me from back. i had to hold back the wall next to me. That was really a shocking experience.
