Everyone was busy studying and discussing when i felt that our desk and table started vibrating. I thought that someone sitting on the table is shaking his leg so I asked him not to do so as it was causing disturbance. But the vibrations turned on violent and suddenly I saw people running down the main building of the IIT. We were on the 4th floor and there was a great rush. Fortunately enough the quake was not strong here and we survived. There I was reading the morning papers and suddenly the earth shook. Could make out instantly that it was an earthquake as I am from the North East where quakes are fairly common. Initially I continued with my reading, but when the shaking grew in intensity I grabbed my housecoat and stepped out of my flat on the 6th floor. Found most of my neighbours standing in the corridor too, nervously smiling at each other, wondering whether to rush down the stairs or stay put. A young mother was hugging her child and crying. I could see the fans and chandeliers swaying too and fro. Guessed it was more than 6 on the Richter scale. The vibrations continued for more than 2 minutes. But seemed like an eternity. There was an aftershock a few minutes back, which had all of us rushing out again, this time with the knowledge of the extensive damage caused in Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. This time it was scary, even if the intensity and the duration were less. I pray for all those who lost their lives so suddenly, especially those Indian soldiers trapped in their bunkers. At about 9 20 am i was playing with my little cousin bro, then suddenly my sister told me to evacuate the house , I put my cousin brother in my lap and i ran out of the house . First i was standing but the shocks were so powerful that the earth was throwing me here and there , Then i decided to stay on my toes , but the shocks were much powerful at that time i was able to control my self , then at last i decided to sit down .... I was just switdhed on my Laptop to start my day's work. Suddenly there was big movement at my ground floor ofice and at the very movement I rushed to First floor where my wife and 2 years old son was already screaming, they were even not able to move out of the sofa in which they were sitting.Without thinking much I pulled both of them, it was really difficult to even hold them.Some how I dragged them to ground floor and we all were standing out side and watching our guesthouse cum office building still swinging. My son amd wife was screaming like crazy, I told them to chant god's name and be prepare for any worst thing.After shocks are continuing still and last one occur at 6.35PM. My family is still terrified with this after shocks and fearing how to spent the whole night. As usual in the morning I reached to the office and as soon as I start working on computer my chair start floating like someone is behind me and have the support of my chair and watching in my computer screen than I turned my neck towards left to see who is there but there was no one and then to right turn again there was no one. then I was thinking someone is playing with whole cabin so I start working continuously. but my chair was floating. Then my boss came out from the cabin and start shouting ki bhookamp aa raha hai. Then I come to know about reality as it was the first experience. Then I left my chair and rush to the downstairs and in the mean time i didnt forget to carry my mobile which was lying on the table. then everyone was collected down stairs outside the building. and after some time everyone went back to there job. But me and one of my friend stay outside for another mins for the precautionary point of view. Then after mins we went back to our jobs.
