He didn't have to struggle for anything in the field of dancing; everything was given to him on a platter. But he believed there was no fun without a struggle.

"In the world of photography, I don't know anybody. I have no godfather who will support me. I have to build everything on my own, and I groped in the dark trying to find my way..."

In 1996, Satyajit decided to stop dancing and learn photography. His destination was Mumbai, where he wanted to meet Iqbal.

Initially, his parents were distraught; their son who was to take over their mantle was turning away. But they were very co-operative. "They were not closed to the idea. They felt I should go out and face the world. They probably thought I would come back after facing it! They gave it a chance though. My father told me, 'whatever you do, do it well!'"
