Padma Awards: India honours her achievers
A host of celebrities like noted filmmaker Yash Chopra (Padma Bhushan), Kashmiri singer and Congress politician Ghulam Nabi Azad's wife Shameem Dev Azad (Padma Shri), Australian missionary Graham Staines' wife Gladys (Padma Shri), Attorney General of India Milan Banerjee (Padma Vibhushan), and journalist Mark Tully (Padma Bhushan) were the other recipients of the Padma Awards.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister I K Gujral.
