Padma Awards: India honours her achievers
From the world of sports, Olympic silver medallist Lt Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, badminton player Pullela Gopi Chand (in the picture) and athlete Gurcharan Singh Randhawa were conferred with the Padma Shri.
Rathore, who secured second place in trapshooting at the 2004 Olympics, the only Indian to win a silver in the games, said he was a living example for the young generation.
"They can see what I have achieved through hard work. They could do the same," he said.
