The mouthwatering smell of sambar wafts through the air. It is Rajamma cooking. She started cooking only the day this correspondent visited the village. While her husband takes a nap under a tent, her kids look.

"My husband is getting restless. He used go to the sea everyday. What is he supposed to do now without fishing nets and a catamaran?"

Pointing to the bundle of fishing nets, she said, "That was what the sea had left for us... we hope the government will do something about it soon," she says.
