Reasons : From a little known musician, from down South, he broke into the news for Roja. Many considered him a fluke. This year, he proved that he was good, and also that music indeed knows no language barriers. Chartbusters in at least three Indian languages, this year prove that we have a genius on deck. Indian Film Music might never be the same again!!

Person Nominated : Amitabh Bachchan

Reasons : No matter how many people or unions protested against it, but Amitabh Bachchan successfully organized the Miss World contest, the very first in India. What's wrong in organizing such events. Why don't people protest against the sex, violence and vulgurness in the indian movies, instead of protesting this new World famous contest. Amitabh is NOT my very favorite film star, but I really admire him for putting India on the international scene. The guy really has guts.

Reasons : 1996 has seen every public face capable of national leadership tainted. The only person that has the courage and conviction to cleanse India is T N Seshan. Nobody deserves the nomination more than him.
