Preity Zinta returns to the marquee after a long time with Deepa Mehta's film, Heaven On Earth, the Hindi version of which is called Videsh.
Her recent films like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, The Last Lear and Heroes, did not make any ripples at the box office but Preity probably hopes that Videsh will change all that.
She spoke to Syed Firdaus Ashraf about her new film, releasing this month, as well as the upcoming Indian Premiere League matches.
You seem to have turned into a serious heroine in your latest film Videsh.
I got a chance to act in this film, which had a different kind of role. Until last year, I was tired of doing NRI roles and wanted to do something different. Videsh is a very challenging film. It has been well received all over the world. Now, I hope people in India love it too.
Videsh is an issued-based film. It's informative and educative.
