When a 'Slumdog' shook hands with Brad Pitt

Ashutosh Lobo Gajiwala's board examinations are underway but he clearly hasn't gotten over his Oscar experience yet. The 15-year-old played Salim in Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, and had gone to Los Angeles to attend the prestigious award ceremony.

He spoke to Patcy N about his LA trip, and the Hollywood stars he bumped into.

Leaving for the Oscars

Two days before we started for Los Angeles, I was totally charged up. My uncle, aunt and grandparents dropped by to wish me luck. My friends also kept calling me. I had done a lot of shopping for the trip, so I had five suitcases when I left.

When I reached the airport, the media descended on me with flashing cameras. I gave about 15 interviews before I entered the airport. It was exciting at first but repeating the same thing started getting boring.

Inside the airport, I met Tanvi [Ganesh Lonkar], Ayush [Mahesh Khedekar] and their fathers. Tanay [Chheda] was accompanied by his mother while Madhur [Mittal] was not entitled to a guardian as he was over 18.
