Arya, a qualified engineer, made his debut in late Jeeva's Ullam Ketkume, which was also the launching pad for Asin and Pooja in Tamil.
However it was Vishnu Vardhan's Arindhum Ariyamalum that was released first. Both the films did well at the box office. So also his next film with Vishnu Vardhan, Pattiyal. Unfortunately, his last film Oram Po was not as successful.
Now, the actor is ready with Bala's Naan Kadavul, where he plays a sanyasi. For more than two years that Arya was working on the film, he did not cut his hair nor shave his beard till the film got over.
Initially set for Pongal, the film's probable date is now February 6.
Arya spoke to rediff.com's Shobha Warrier about the whole experience.
Bala, a director who made path breaking films like Sethu and Pithamagan and gave astounding characters to actors like Vikram and Surya, offered you the protagonist's role in Naan Kadavul. What was your initial reaction when he offered such an intense role?
I am at the beginning stage of my career so this is like a blessing for me. It didn't even take me a second to agree to do the role. I didn't even ask what part I was playing.
