'I always wanted to be a model, Miss World and famous!'

Did you always want to become an actress?

I know one thing. I didn't dream to be an actress; I always wanted to be a model, Miss World and famous! I didn't know then that you have to be really tall to be a model! I used to tell my friends in school that I would be Miss World one day, and sign autographs. I would talk to my friends like I was giving an interview.

Was it because of any particular model that you wanted to be one?

You know, we grew up watching Aishwarya Rai become Miss World (1994). I was in school then. We enjoyed enacting what she did on winning the crown.

Did you have your schooling in Ooty?

Yes, I studied in a boarding school there.

How did your film career in Kannada start?

After my schooling, I went back to my home town, Bangalore and started college. My aunt, who is a modelling co-ordinator, took a lot of my photos. That was the time Puneet Rajkumar was being launched and they happened to see my pictures and called me up. They said it would take only 15-20 days of shooting. I thought it was nice to have good pocket money.

But what happened was, that film became a big hit, and I got an offer to act in my second film.

Did you enjoy acting?

I enjoyed it but my parents were against me becoming an actress. What appealed to me was going to places like Switzerland, Venice, etc. I was quite fascinated by signing autographs too. After two films, I became very comfortable in the industry.

Now, I am a bit bored doing the same kind of roles; it's getting monotonous.
