Ever since Aamir Khan donned the half-man half-woman getup to do what was clearly a Kishore Kumar tribute in a recent commercial, buzz has built about the actor starring in a biopic about the legend.
Bollywood's never quite been one for biopics, but there's no doubt that our screen icons deserve to be immortalised on celluloid. Here then is a list of some quirky suggestions for movies about moviestars:
Madhubala
An ethereal beauty and an actress far ahead of her time, Madhubala was arguably the most captivating of our leading ladies.
The story is full of high drama: a great debut with Mahal, a film offer from Frank Capra, an affair with Dilip Kumar that ended in heartbreak, dark roles long before they became fashionable, a serious cardiac disorder, marriage to Kishore Kumar, and a perpetual comparison with Marilyn Monroe.
Who better to play her than Madhuri Dixit? Not just does Mads share a resemblance to the legend, but she's seen her share of high drama. Plus, most importantly, she has the acting chops required to pull off this demanding role.
