A sensational debut
The phenomenal success of Sooraj Barjatya's school of virtuous thoughts (Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun) impressed and inspired a 23-year-old Aditya to start writing Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
Even Aditya could not in his wildest dreams imagined what a super-duper response this magical Europe-to-India romance, between a frolicsome Raj (SRK) and demure Simran (Kajol), would conjure.
Besides getting heady million-dollar acclaim and winning all sorts of awards (National, Filmfare), it truly influenced the course of film-making and script-writing in Bollywood and became the longest running film in Indian cinema's history.
