The follow-ups
After enjoying five years of giddy DDLJ adulation, in between squeezing time to pen the Filmfare-award-winning dialogues of Dil To Pagal Hai (directed by daddy), Aditya got back to his director's chair to helm Mohabbatein, loosely inspired by Peter Weir's Dead Poet's Society.
Though the drama essentially dealt with the idealogical clash between Amitabh Bachchan and SRK, it marked the introduction (and re-launch) of newbies like his brother Uday along with Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma, Preeti Jhangiani, Jimmy Shergill and Jugal Hansraj, in addition to a sparkling special appearance from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
While never as ground-breaking as DDLJ, Mohabbatein, which was released on the same day as Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Mission Kashmir nevertheless did good business.
