Celeb: Ranbir Kapoor
Trainer: Rupesh Kamble
I have been working at the gym for three and a half years and have been training Ranbir for about the same time. Ranbir is an old member of the gym and did not have a personal trainer earlier. Slowly, we started talking to each other and interacting about the different ways of working out. That's when we started training together.
Fitness regime: When Ranbir started training under me, he was very thin for his height -- 60 kilos at 6 feet. We turned our focus on gaining muscle. He doesn't gain muscle fast, as his metabolism is very fast. Now, he is lean and toned at 75 kilos.
My fitness plan for him depends on what he wants for his next film. Like for Saawariya, he wanted a lean body. For his new film, he wants a bulked-up body because he will be wearing T-shirts more often.
Diet: When he wants a lean body, he goes on a low carbohydrates diet -- less rice and chappatis. Ranbir starts his day with a glass of vegetable juice. He follows it up with a breakfast of three-four scrambled eggs. If he wants to bulk up, he adds brown bread, soup and fruit to his breakfast.
An hour before his workout, he has a glass of mass gainer -- that's a high carb protein shake for energy. Sometimes, this works as a replacement for lunch, which, otherwise, is dal, a vegetable, and a chicken breast. After a workout, he takes the same energy shake. Dinner is two chicken breasts, boiled or grilled.
Timings: He comes for workouts in the evenings, around 4 pm. He trains five times a week for an hour. If he has an outdoor shoot, I plan a workout session which he follows. Whenever he is out and stuck with a fitness problem, he calls me.
