Here, in alphabetical order, we look at the clever and the quirky -- usually made on lesser budgets, but deservant of greater fanfare. Here are the smarter films we're waiting for:

Adventureland

Director Greg Mottola made the awesome Superbad. That should be reason enough to be all geared up about his new autobiographical comedy, a take on his teenage days working at a local amusement park. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Kristen Stewart, and -- while we will miss Seth Rogen -- we're just hoping for another life-affirming, warm and foulmouthed movie -- that makes us split our guts laughing and exchanging blessedly juvenile high-fives.
